They watch these managers "25 times" too? FFS. We'll probably finalize a manager target by 2029. Takes a while to locate the most bland and uninspiring candidate.
The Nathan Jones "mini-series" has likely burnt them from trying any more "experiments." (I certainly hope so) But it's also nearly ensuring they'll go for the "same old same old" this time. Why do I keep thinking of the band Dinosaur Jr.?

I'm not sure that O'Neill can be kicked any further upstairs. He could be invited onto the board, so yes there is a chair further upstairs. I think he already has been given the invite, but he's still weighing up the pros and cons.

Jones was given 11 games so that puts it to after QPR on 24th September. After giving the mananger what he wants the board will want to see if can pull things around. Given the injuries I think if we pick up a couple more wins he would be given longer. Unless there is a high chance of us going down he will be in charge until the summer. I thought Jones got 8 points from 15 games before being sacked? 1 win and 2 draws in the next 10 will better that lol. Jones win rate was 15%, MON is probably down to 38% now, hardly the worst!

He's not the same man as when he came in. He's gone from Ozzy Osbourne to James Blunt in terms of the way he's approached games since his first 12 months. Pretty much 1.6 points per game for his first 48 games over 13 months, with a 46% win rate. Down to 1.2 in the 80 games since Dec '20. (31%) And barely 1.1 for the last 9 months. (27%)

I hope they are putting out feelers for a replacement. I said the threshold should be less than 10 points after 10 games. He’s on track for 8 with only one win so far. He can fall back on injuries as the main cause of our poor performances, which it is. However, he can’t play 3-5-2 with the players available and he has to change or we’ll likely lose the next five games - it’s that bad. We're still monitoring. Far too early for feelers yet. Well run companies always have a back-up plan that should include succession planning.

What is it for the last 12 months ? The last 46 Championship games, including the five this season, W 15 D 11 L 20 Pts 56, a win rate of 32.6%. The key statistic is the five game or ten game moving average because it shows the direction we are headed. However it doesn’t take any data to show we are in decline with no sign of it reversing. All our best players are out injured, which is the main reason. However, it’s concerning O’Neill doesn’t have a back up plan because the one he embarked on at the start of season isn’t working, in large part as a result of additional injuries, and a new plan is clearly needed.

Out of interest can any stato’s tell us how many inexperienced young players and ageing journeymen MON included in his NI squads on which his CV was built. The only reason I ask is that you’d think he would have a certain philosophy that he’d continue with where a level of success is undeniable

We play the same turgid, slow and boring brand of football no matter which players are injured or not! Can’t defend (even with 3 Centre backs) Can’t tackle, can’t take a throw in, can’t run a set piece routine without it turning into a farce. There are all things the manager can work on and improve regardless of the injury situation yet we get no improvements at all. In fact, if anything, it’s worse. Several player personnel changes and transfer windows have made no difference. Time is up

Why can’t we replicate that performance?

The only reason I ask is that you’d think he would have a certain philosophy that he’d continue with where a level of success is undeniable You can't compare the two roles as NI only have a small pool of players to pick from. In addition they are playing for their country with plenty of time to prepare. O’Neill seems to have trouble adapting from game to game or within games. He gets stuck with one system and can’t adapt to changing conditions. Another point worth considering: he got us out of trouble playing four across the back. The rot set in when he recognized all the top six teams played with three at the back and two wing backs. Unfortunately he hasn’t been able to sign the players to fit that system. Injuries to Tymon and Clarke haven’t helped either. But that’s no excuse - he needs to change the system to get the best out of the players at his disposal. However, that requires him to admit that a change is needed and that may be too bitter a pill to swallow.

See the last sentence. If you were successful by implementing one particular strategy surely you’d replicate the same, wouldn’t you? If not why not?…..circumstances/constraints are completely different?

Thank you for stabilizing us MON. You’ve left us in a better place than you found us. He's certainly trimmed the wage bill, but we are only out of the bottom 3 on default because Coventry have 3 games in hand. He has stabilized the ship for a period of time, but we are slowly slipping back to a similar situation that he came into after mad Nath left!

Lets hope they’ve already have another manager lined up and we can kick this season off with an unbeaten run of 20 games and a FA cup final. I should have taken my medication.
