The Ausies are notoriously tough and "no nonsense" when it comes to sport we are unfortunately not. I remember watching the german coach of our rowers working them so hard they puked Pinsent and co he'd be thrown in jail now for abuse. One of the lazy arguments that comes from our neighbours is that our sports teams are arrogant (which is based on nothing more than embarrassing Sun headlines whenever there's a tournament on). Maybe we're not arrogant enough? Might be mate I'm inclined to think in team sport the individuals are more interested in themselves than the "team"

Time for a two tier Eight Nations.
Two divisions of four, six games, home and away, got to win all six for a Grand Slam.
Promotion and relegation.

You could have two divisions of 5 First season 1- England, wales France, Ireland, Scotland 2- italy Georgia Romania Spain Portugual It would mean one of the big boys rotate to div 2 but it would improve European rugby.

I know England have been pretty poor recently under Eddie, but that is a shocking result for Wales isn’t it.
Two divisions could create a bit more interest I suppose, but in reality wouldn't it usually be Italy yo-yoing with Georgia. Would the other 2nd division teams really have any chance of promotion, and they'd get annihilated almost every game whilst they were in the top league.

Good start by van Poortvliet!
Crap kick, interception try and knock on, all in the first five minutes...doh!
Looking ominous already.
Edit: now gets caught at the ruck for a try...has he played rugby before?!

We are so far behind NZ it's a bit embarrassing. Like they're playing a different game that we can't play.
WC this time next year. I can't see us doing anything at all.

The depressing thing is that this isn't a great NZ team by their standards. England aren't even in the same class as Ireland and France.

It's always the same with England, so little imagination and flair in attack. If they can't batter their way through in about five phases, nothing happens and the chances of any kind of back move flair are negligible.

We have papered over the cracks with that comeback but nevertheless a good result in the end.

Good result, great fightback, but we're just so far behind Ireland, France, and no doubt NZ, Aus, and SA by the time the World Cup starts. Big mistake not to sign Shaun Edwards, and Eddie really needs replacing ASAP.

I think the World Cup will be his last hurrah I'm half convinced though he's doing a "rope a dope" and it'll be OK come the tournament.
