I wasn'too sure about Celina in the first place, so not too sad if this doesn't happen. Do we need another player who looks awesome every 3rd game? Will much rather see another defensive midfielder and two strikers arrive. We definitely need another attacker/creative player Tbh I think we need 2,Powell cover and a wide left player Elliot Anderson and JPB please As well as striker (2 of them really) Yeah - Celina seemed interesting in as much as he would have killed two birds (Vrancic replacement and wide option) And Anderson would kill the same two birds, but half the league seem to be after him so would be a bit of a coup. Don't suppose we'll ever find out how interested we were in Celina if he doesn't come. Just can't see JPB coming if he's only ever going to be an afterthought for the limited number of games when we don' t play a back three.

Ipswich press saying it was never that advanced, so fair enough.
Maybe just one option on the list if we didn't get Anderson or AN Other?

And then there's this, so who knows what to believe? www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/42929/work-permit-scuppered-celina-stoke-moveIssues relating to Bersant Celina's UK work permit scuppered the Kosovo international's proposed loan move to Stoke City, TWTD understands, however, a switch to the Blues wouldn’t be similarly affected. As reported earlier, Celina’s switch to the Potters, a loan with a view to a permanent deal, has broken down having come close to completion with the 25-year-old’s work permit situation having caused the collapse. If Celina were to join the Championship club - or any other British side - he would be required to apply for a new work permit, however, we understand the forward wouldn’t qualify, presumably due to his lack of Kosovo action over the last year having asked to be left out of the squad on a number of occasions in order to play for Town during international weeks. The situation with a return to Portman Road would be different as it would be a continuation of the existing work permit which allowed him to play for the Blues last season on loan from parent club Dijon. While that puts other UK clubs out of the running, that doesn’t mean Celina couldn’t join sides elsewhere in the world.

analyticsfc.co.uk/gbe-calculator/Seems to stack up if you check whether he could get a permit. He doesn't seem to get anywhere near qualifying - not even an arguable case.

Can we pin this thread
next time someone bemoans us not 'looking' at foreign players from foreign clubs this is the reason

Didn't SLP post on Farcebook this morning that it was a done deal to be completed 'in the next few days'? Hmmm. Looks now increasingly unlikely that I can get 'Lesbian Nectar' printed on my shirt this season. No matter - I preferred 'Albert Canines' anyway.

Ipswich are still hoping to sign him so how can they get a work permit for him and we cannot,? Apparently the work permit they got last season still applies but we would have to apply for a new one and he hasn't played enough games for his country over the last 12 months. Along those lines anyway.

Not too sure about the names, never seen Anderson and not convinced MON’s got a clue what to do with JPB unfortunately I can’t offer alternatives but that’s not my job. The less we have to compromise physically to add the creativity the happier I’ll be.

It does make you wonder how it even progressed far enough to be a vague link if his work permit status is so black and white. You'd think that'd be the first think you'd check, and it's not a close call in his case? www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/itfc-celina-and-harness-situation-9148508Ipswich are the only UK-based club able to sign Celina this summer due to the fact he will not qualify for a new work permit, based on the level of games played for Town in League and Kosovo on the international stage last season. Ipswich, though, can complete a deal for the attacker given a return to Suffolk would represent a continuation of his employment following last season’s loan. It’s a situation Town are understood to have been aware of throughout, with Celina’s work permit issues meaning interest from Stoke City was never able to lead to a completed deal. The Potters were forced to pull the plug once they became aware of the details in recent days.

Nobody really knows how firm our interest was, if any at all, but you would have thought, as Fuller pointed out, it would have been a simple, will he get a work permit, if not, end of story?.

There could be some interesting conversations now between Ipswich, and Celina's agent.
"Well! It seems that the only club in the country that your man is now allowed to play for is us! Oh, and the bad news is. That offer we made, we're now reducing it by half!
The law is of course an Ass, as always.
