I really don't get stoke fans who praise vale you wouldn't see a Millwall fan praising West ham hope Mansfield beat them at wembley my word they are an unbearable lot! It’s local people who can remember going to watch Vale as well as Stoke when they were perennially in the 4th div and Stoke In the 1st so it didn’t manifest as any sort of rivalry.....or those whose dads and grandads always liked to see both the Potteries clubs do well.........or indeed, actually supported Vale primarily...... My old man, Stoke through and through had this belief. Mid-late 80s everything changed for him and loads of Stoke. If there's a few knocking about who still think like that and have those thoughts then fair enough, but must be knocking on and blowing out more than 70 odd candles now! How anyone who has had any kind of Stoke connection or Vale connection for that matter, witnessed those games in the 80s and 90s, you would never want either to do well and if they did they just don't get football rivalry to be honest! Hope they get absolutely battered! If they get up, my opinion will be the same come August and in every league game after. Fuck em!

Didn’t Frank Macavenie sue a player. Was it Kamara? Never heard of a criminal case involving football league clubs. McAvennie talked about suing him but West Ham talked him out of it as the footage clearly showed it was a nothing challenge Kamara did lose in court for breaking a Shrewsbury players jaw following a racist jibe Thank you. Old age playing tricks on the memory.

Yeh - it were when thowd king come t’throne..............nah it was the 70s.....!! . No, that was upto the 68/69/70/71 years. My dad took me to both grounds regularly from 1964 onwards with us both wearing the half Stoke, half Vale scarves. The difference being ...... from 1968/69/70 more often we would get 'gobbed on' by Vale fans, (old and young) at every match .. for wearing our scarves, where as, we didn't suffer any abuse at Stoke matches with our scarves. Hence, from 1970 onwards we were only full time Stoke supporters. Besides Stoke City represented the City, our home. Where as, to the world Port Vale is just two four letter words. I have to keep telling non football supporters down here that Port Vale isn't a place between Port Talbot and Ebbw Vale in Wales but an entity in the nether world of what they like to call the Potteries (not Stoke-On-Trent) - like saying Nottingham is in the 'Lace-ries' and Bolton is in the Cotton-ries. Used to go to both in the early 70's....grew up on Stanfields. Stopped pretty much after our League Cup win.

We would do the same, look at our last game with the flares, bottles coins and the rest we all have our dickheads. Don't recall any Leicester players getting punched when we invaded the pitch after winning promotion? Give it time, vale come say the same about the last time they went on the pitch, like I say we all have dick heads.

What I find amusing by some posts is our holier than thou attitude.
Nobody remember 0-7 v Birmingham when John Mcarthy was attacked during the game?
Yes it was 20 years ago but we've plenty of ***** of our own.
And as a footnote I watched Quest and about 1000 Swindon were celebrating on the pitch at Walsall. That's more tinpot than the unwashed tonight.

The upside is that the City Council will be able to disinfect the streets of Burslem while those scumbags will be licking the windows of shops in London.

For all the vitriol against the Vale they’ve at least re-generated an interest and togetherness (albeit perhaps temporary) better than us.
Give credit where it’s due and reflect on our own overall performance as a club and fan base

Hate to say it, but they celebrate wins by acting like losers.
Seriously - that's embarrassing and they've been acting cringeworthy all along. Injuring/endangering children too.
Aside from the Shanahans, I've never liked Vale and crap like this reinforces why.
There's no defense for THAT behavior. Freaking parasites.
Plus...they haven't won anything yet! Wonder if they'll fly a plane over the Bet tomorrow? The idiots. F**K THEM!

Disgraceful way to celebrate your team winning by violence against the opposition players & Manager (Everton Palace). Unfortunately nowadays coming to a match just with alcohol in your system is not the case anymore, it be interesting if anyone was apprehended tonight if they had any cocaine or other drugs in their system? I get fans are emotionally charged but surely with a rational manner. Massive risk to the club and surely disqualification from the competition or docked points is a possible solution? Saying its the drugs is letting them off imo, its morons thinking they can do whatever they want thinking its funny. Agree we still have the morons but it interesting to see if drugs was contributing factor? I’m seeing more of it on Matchdays.

How is that is any way similar to trying to fight players having just won a game that sends you to Wembley with a chance of promotion?

I’m seeing more of it on Matchdays. coke is unavoidable on matchdays .... and we have a fair old amount of it too. You go to some away games and in the toilets it's like an outpost of Columbia this has been going on for a long time too. I present the theory that this new focussing of football fans and drugs is yet another way to deflect from tory party corruption and incompetence, by the newspaper owners where the two seem more inextricably linked than ever, with a 'you scratch my back and i'll scratch yours' strategy. yes i know that's political and should be on the everything else board, but i think it's a relevant point in this instance.

Mate people have their own reason, as I do, for wishing Vale well and as it happens I like Man Utd. That certainly doesn’t make me any less a Stoke does it ?
