Well I suppose falling to your death from a hospital window Is slightly more preferable than being dismembered in a Saudi embassy

Head of Russian oil company And critic of the war has fallen to his death from a hospital window whilst he was there receiving treatment How unlucky can you be Those oligarchs are an unlucky lot. Taken from BBC News... The chairman of Russia's Lukoil oil giant, Ravil Maganov, has died after falling from a hospital window in Moscow, reports say. The company confirmed his death but said only that Maganov, 67, had "passed away following a severe illness". Russian media said he was being treated at Moscow's Central Clinical Hospital and died of his injuries. Maganov is the latest of a number of high-profile business executives to die in mysterious circumstances. Investigating authorities said they were working at the scene to establish how he died. Tass news agency quoted sources saying he had fallen out of a sixth-floor window, adding later that he had taken his own life. Shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Lukoil board called for the conflict to end as soon as possible, expressing its sympathy to victims of "this tragedy". Its billionaire president, Vagit Alekperov, resigned in April after the UK imposed sanctions on him in response to the invasion. Several Russian energy oligarchs have died in unusual circumstances in recent months: The body of millionaire Novatek former manager Sergei Protosenya was found alongside his wife and daughter at a Spanish villa in April A former vice-president of Gazprombank, Vladislav Avayev, was found dead with his wife and daughter in their Moscow flat, also in April In May, a former Lukoil tycoon Alexander Subbotin died of heart failure, reportedly after seeking alternative treatment from a shaman. OS.

OS. Hopefully they all chip in and get Putin thrown, sorry “falling” out of a 90th floor window. Surely Putin’s days are numbered, his hit list getting shorter and probably plenty of oligarchs looking over their shoulders thinking they’re next.

Aleksey Kovalyov was assassinated at his home. He is a Ukrainian turncoat collaborator who became Russia's puppet deputy chief for the Kherson area.

Ukraine has a media blackout so the only info I'm seeing is from pro-Russians, local civilians, or the Ukrainian government.
New vids show at least 4 lost Ukrainian tanks over the past few days. That's a lot for them.
Ukraine now says it's destroying around 20 Russian tanks per day and even more other vehicles. That seems *way* too hopeful but Russian anti air defences are so damaged that new videos from Bayraktar drones wrecking Russia are arriving each day.
It must be absolutely brutal in Ukraine's South right now.

I’ve watched a few vids on YouTube providing analysis but most of their info is based on Russian media and a bit of speculation so has to be taken with a bit of a pinch of salt. They did say that one of the Ukrainian attacks had been encircled by Russian troops after their artillery destroyed three pontoon bridges they’d used. Not sure if this is true as not seen it anywhere on ‘western’ media, but again, how much of the info coming from our side do you trust? For the sake of Ukraine I hope it’s going as well as it can.

One of the major Russian things has been to claim encirclements constantly. In the Donbas they claimed thousands of captured Ukrainians but showed videos of maybe a few dozen. Then they claimed Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk were encircled but it turns out the Russians lost a whole battalion and the Ukrainians held out another 2-3 months then got their soldiers out easily. So I'm pretty sure the Russians are bullshitting again on this but we don't really know. Russia also claims to have destroyed all of Ukraine's jets, drones and HIMARS several times over.

I think you’re right. Having watched a couple more videos it seems that a Ukrainian attack was temporarily cut off due to a couple of pontoon bridges being destroyed. It now seems that they’ve reconnected with the main lines and expanded their bridgehead which is good news. It seems they’ve made a semi permanent bridge by dumping loads of gravel and earth into a river to allow crossing. Even when you watch all these analysis videos, you see the scale of fighting is literally field by field. The bridgehead I mentioned above is 3-4 fields wide out of a 220km frontline.

At what point do we recognise that sanctions aren't working and are in turn having a catastrophic effect on our own nation? We know he's an awful human being but surely the time has come where we need to agree a deal?
Pretty sure Ellie Goulding's ghastly attempt at pro-Ukraine propaganda and climate change bollocks, Zelensky's Vogue shoots and Ben Stiller's miraculous walk through a war zone wont cut through with the British (and European) public when they can't keep the lights on this winter.
Don't get me wrong, our sickening media are playing their part with the standard covid esc scare mongering against the backdrop of the cost of living crisis but make no mistake about it, carry on with the lack of negotiation efforts combined with endless/pointless sanctioning and shit is going to get a fuck load worse this winter.

What counts as sanctions working or not working? Russia refuses to negotiate. Ukraine has been incredibly generous by only asking them to withdraw to the lines on 23rd Feb instead of fucking off out of the entire country they invaded

To name a few. A better question would be, what makes you think our current strategy is working?

I asked this on here a while ago, doesn’t seem to be any end to this conflict, and as you say the energy crisis is going to be a disaster for normal folk. I just wrongly assumed it’d be sorted after a few months of sanctions

Putin's plan is clearly to get to winter and have disgruntled western populations calling for a deal. The west on the other hand seem to be aiming to hang the conflict round Russias neck for as long as possible - giving enough resources to bleed Russia whilst not provoking an escalation.
Stalemate beckons - eventually a deal is going to have to be hammered out.

He has revitalised and enlarged NATO. And for what? I can’t see any deal justifying those geo-strategic disasters. Not to mention the deaths and losses to his own armed forces or the humiliation they have suffered at the hands of NATO backed Ukraine. What a plank.

Maybe that was his plan all along?
