Thats my hope too and if he goes for a championship striker hopefully he goes for one he has worked with before like Solanke, with their money though you'd think they would be looking at the likes of Cavini, Origi, Aubamayeng, Bale or even seeing if Chelsea would take their money back on Werner. Can't believe all you read but Barbosa linked by quite a few sources. The other thing with these reports is that Tyrese and his dad will be reading them as well. Doesn’t matter how true they are but it makes it appear that Newcastle are trawling the top European leagues for £60m strikers so if Tyrese goes there no matter how good the deal, he’s likely to be bench fodder at best. And bearing in mind he, quite wisely, came to us in the first place because he wanted game time, might work in our favour. If we don’t go up in the summer then I’m sure he’ll be gone but I think he can do better than just jump ship to the first club that waves £££‘a at him. Tyrese is and could continue to be great for us but he is never going to be a world class striker and those are the sort of players Newcastle are going to be targeting in the next few years. Tyrese would very soon become surplus to requirements at Toon.

www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/19813410.newcastle-redraw-transfer-plans-callum-wilson-injury/EDDIE HOWE has been told he will almost certainly have to look abroad as he attempts to sign a proven replacement for injured striker Callum Wilson next month. Newcastle United’s recruitment team have had to hastily redraw their plans for the January transfer window in the wake of Wilson’s calf injury, Newcastle’s recruitment team will be focusing their attention on the European market, with the likeliest scenario a season-long loan with a view to a potential permanent signing in the summer if the Magpies retain their Premier League status.

As much as I rate Tyrese, Newcastle with all the money they've got would be mad to buy him when relegation is a distinct possible. They'll sign someone with a proven record in January, the summer might be a different proposition. With all the money they've got they could buy both.

Which is the point I was making. As much as I love Ty and I don’t rate Martial. He is a much bigger (name) international player. However much Howe has got a raging hard on for Ty signing him in January won’t satisfy the owners or the fans. Next summer is a completely different kettle of fish.

I think Tyrese will score 1 or 2 hatricks for us this season, once he is back to full fitness.

They might sign a couple of short term signings, big names AND go for Tyrese as a development signing. Can see them going absolutely mental in January.

He’s got into a nasty habit of ball watching. Challenging for a header then watching it instead of going for the second ball. Very annoying.

He’s looked like a competition winner tonight No point having any forwards on today.... zero service. Both are true. Midfield behind him gave him hardly anything to work with. But he pretty much fucked up every chance he was given. Absolutely dreadful tonight as were the rest of them. Coming back from injury is not excuse for having the first touch of man wearing bricks for boots

Campbell’s probably my favourite player but he could of had De Bruyne behind him tonight and he still would of looked shit his first touch was in a different postcode

He failed to shield the ball. He didn't challenge for headers. He didn't take the ball on when Davies missed it completely when he had a chance on goal. He watched the game happen around him. He was simply pathetic tonight. And yes the service was poor but when he had it he was shit.

Can people stop with the “he’s not match fit or sharp” narrative? It’s quite embarrassing he’s had 11 appearances since his return how long do we need give someone? Let’s not forget he had something similar to a pre season playing a few games for the u23s.

First half he was woeful. Between him and Brown you’ll struggle to see forward play as shite as that. He improved second half but his decision making was still piss poor…..

Let’s not forget he had something similar to a pre season playing a few games for the u23s. how long do you need to give someone coming back from a career ending injury? Not sure of the exact answer, but let's go fairly conservatively and say for longer than 11 games. This message board is so toxic at times.... often following defeat.

He was 20 yards to deep and too slow tonight. His touch was poor and he jogged around aimlessly.
Regardless of service his has to work the defender by making runs that they simply can't leave. Jageilka and Davies should have come off that pitch gasping for air through their arseholes but they won't have an easier game all season.

If it was brown that was as bad tonight then he would be given pelters Wasn’t it Campbell’s good work which led to the corner for the goal? Yes, once he was playing wide he seemed to be far more of a threat. I think it's time to push him out wide where he was playing well before his injury. I never want to see him and Brown playing as a front two again there is just no chemistry between them at all and I used to think it would work.

Someone at the club needs to teach him how to tackle and challenge for headers as well. He does neither.
