Mate who’s a Leeds fan says he was v poor when he did play for them. Maybe his year in turkey will have done him good. Seems to be what we don’t need. If he comes I hope he does the business. Might be a low risk one.

From what I'm reading about him he looks an exciting player to me, and certainly a player with skills on the ball too. I've never seen him play though. Surprised so many people are negative to this player! My post is I suppose negative, when I always look for the "up side". But he is hardly like a younger player with a top club looking for development, nor is he a younger player who's career has stalled with his present club and he is hungry to prove himself elsewhere, he is 26 and bouncing from club to club. It's not very convincing is it? I hope I am wrong. I've watched his video closely, but a good editor could make McClean look like Messi, well maybe not. He is a player Mourinho had high hopes for, he clearly has skills on the ball, his best position seems to be as a DM, he has even played as a CD lately it seems, he is exactly at the age bracket MON has been looking for, Reading fans seemed to like him and he played most games for Trabzonspor last season, I guess he now wants a permanent move and prove his potential. You can certainly be a decent player despite not being good enough for Chelsea's first team squad. I haven't seen him play though, but I like what I read about him.

Reading's fans seem to have liked him and one has even been quoted as saying how much more effective he looked when played as a proper defensive midfielder who was also good on the ball - I mean what have we been seeking for years if it isn't a proper defensive midfielder who can use the ball properly when he wins it? Sounds EXACTLY what we need. As for age - he's not the same age range as Surridge and Wilmot but 26 is hardly veteran class - he should have 4 or 5 of his best years ahead of him.

In the clips he looks like a talented player and if he is adapting to being an effective CDM then maybe worth a punt. Good age, athleticism, two footed, should be within our budget range and maybe even allows us more room in funds for the last two signings?
I would be happy to see this chap in red and white. Again, it adds to the squad quality for me. Hope this is a real rumor.

Thinks it’s Chelsea and Man City that have players on their books that have never actually trained with their parent clubs, and/or never gain a work permit and so just continually shipped out to other clubs. This is what’s wrong with football, where clubs see players as commodities and assets and buy ‘stock’ so as to get one over the competition. Baker at 26 and having never really ever been playing solidly is the perfect example of this injustice. Yes, I'm not comfortable with it. Chelsea and Man City running a rental business hiring out players with their brand at a premium price when they are no more Chelsea players than I am! And I bet you've never heard of him.😉

Ty Campbell looked twice the player once he found that he had a decent right foot to go with his left. And being two footed is great for defenders as well as it on occasions gives them the option of putting in a quicker tackle or interception than one footed defenders. That was one of Huth's strengths - he was right footed but was perfectly able to tackle properly with his left.

Bit of a cloud over Dennis Weaver and a duel for his signature. Would have to Google the other chap. Was he that 80's robot looking singer? Edit...Vanishing Point. Never knew his name.

Must be just me but I have very little faith in any footballer coming out of Turkey. I know there will be exceptions but generally it's a graveyard.

Too many red flags with this one. Not for me. He seems to have done consistently well at his last two clubs and that is very probably because both of them have used him as a defensive midfielder who is also good on the ball, rather than as a central or an attacking midfielder. We have plenty of central and attacking midfielders but a two footed, defensive midfielder who is also a great passer of the ball, is something we have needed for years. If we have found one at last - great! He is still only 26 and has huge experience both in England and abroad - the sooner he signs, the better.

My thought as well, but as said before I've never seen him play. A mobile two footed DM who is a good passer of the ball as well, exciting is my word for it! It's always a risk signing new players, but it's about making that risk as low as possible. I would like us to sign this player, but of course it depends on the deal we can make with Chelsea. A low initial fee that could rise considerably with success is the way to go I think.

A 2 footed defensive midfielder is exactly what we need, and I agree, have wanted for a very long time.

I would agree with your concerns about him never settling if he had moved between lots of clubs on permanent transfer. But he was a Chelsea loanee and if you are a Chelsea loanee, whether you stay at a loan club after the loan expires doesn't depend on you, it depends upon whether Chelsea can get a better deal from another club. Chelsea have had so many loanees on their books that it is clear that very few of them are being groomed to be Chelsea players - most of them are commodities who are used to produce income, with other clubs paying their wages plus a loan fee on top of that. What happens next will depend upon some club getting Chelsea to agree a modest deal for either a final loan, or a permanent deal, because it is clear he isn't going back to Chelsea in 12 months time. Aldridge will earn his corn if he can get him to Stoke without us paying too much.

Seems like a classic TP "dog's home" signing tbh. A lot of those turned out well, so provided we are not committing to a long term, high wage contract as we have so often in the past, he may be worth a punt. Ability is one thing, character is another. There are so many signings we have had since Hughes final years, who have proved to be wasters, stinking out the dressing room. TP was good at choosing players who may have been wayward characters, but he could generally keep a grip on, with the odd exception.

Chelsea will definitely be looking for a fee up front on an end of life loanee.

Absolutely agree about character and it was Hughes's blind spot that led to our relegation. MoN seems to get this and there is no evidence that Baker is a problem - although I must admit I admire Surridge's get up and go in finding a new club to further his career rather than hanging around hoping it will happen. It looks to me like Baker isn't going to make it at Chelsea and at his age he needs to make things happen for himself before it's too late. If his heads in the right place - and the number of appearances in Turkey suggest it is - he looks like potentially a very good signing to me.

Let's face it all transfers are gambles, this one a bit more than usual I feel.

It appears a number of posters have been told that the player was at Clayton Wood I've no idea if it's true or not also worth bearing in mind that players will often visit other clubs & even have medicals without a transfer being fully developed
