You're aware wildfires in the UK are nothing new? It's sad to see anyones home on fire and any forested area and wildlife hurt, it's a shit situation. But stop being so dramatic - it's hot. I remember Park Hall hills going up as a nipper in the 70s There used to be a song every time it was “set” on fire to the tune of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. Inserting the suspects name into the chorus bit😉

Yes, I was going to say that each new build should also have at least one little windmill, but I didn’t want to bore you Why couldn't developers install one of these vortex turbines on a mock village green on new developments? Probably greed but if each home owned a share in it they could reduce their energy use We can’t wait for developers to do this voluntarily. They won’t do that as it would either hurt profits (there’s nothing wrong in making profits) or it would make them uncompetitive against their competitors. It requires legislation (just like exists for other building regulations and safety features). I’ve been banging on about this for the last 25 years whenever I could corner someone in the pub. I just cannot understand why we are not so far down the road with this that the idea of not doing it seems totally idiotic. We can do it with guards on machinery, seatbelts in vehicles, wiring standards in buildings, etc but cannot do it to help save the planet we all inhabit. Utter madness

Good thanks mate.Just stuck the telly on to scenes of people's property literally on fire in Kent. 20 odd wildfires reported. "Get over it" eh?.. You're aware wildfires in the UK are nothing new? I've no memory of mulirple houses burning down and other buildings, not in England not on this scale Hot weather and wildfires aren't new, the temperatures and the scale of it all most definitely is Stop being so dramatic? Sorry, your argument is getting less convincing by the hour

We've had far more bizarre heatwaves in months when you wouldn't expect it. Over 100 years ago in 1906 we were getting 36 degrees in September! 1907 saw a 3 month 30+ degree heatwave!! It's all unprecedented of course!

The only difference has been in every other year you'd glance at a story in the media, or watch a field near you burn & think "Wow, look at that! That's pretty nuts", then you'd move on with your life. This year however we've had the last few weeks of non-stop "armageddon is upon us, we're all going to die!!!!!" So now every little thing is being blown up beyond all proportion. *What happened to all those "Thousands will die & the NHS will be overwhelmed" we were hearing about all last week?

I expect that was a reference to the excess deaths figure that usually goes up whenever extreme temperatures occur. www.gov.uk/government/publications/heat-mortality-monitoring-reports/heat-mortality-monitoring-report-2021Presumably you weren't awaiting headlines along the lines of "So far 3,270 people have dropped dead due to the temperature today"?

Why do the woke elite seem so intent on wanking over apocalypse porn? Why do they seem so intent on obliterating the lives of ordinary people the minute things get a little uncomfortable?
The media revolt from the people over the past couple of days has been a pleasure to see. Was down at the tennis club late this afternoon and those who weren't playing were sat talking, laughing, drinking and reiterating what an utter scam our mainstream media is while enjoying the gorgeous sunshine. Opposite were kids playing cricket and enjoying their lives.
Can't those who want to live a life of utter paralysis, utter misery, permanent lockdown, permanent mask wearing, Susie Michie arse licking and Greta worshipping orgies just bugger off and leave the rest of us to enjoy ourselves 🍻🥂

Life is for living & only they are allowed to live, the rest of us Plebs should mearly exist... A miserable existance, mostly used to serve them. The weirdest part is why are the modern day left, the ones who apparently hate the elites & stick up for the working classes, the ones who cheerlead for it all the loudest?

Unfortunately, that approach is probably going to lead to the collapse of food growing, large uninhabitable parts of the planet, mass migration, political tension, war and quite possibly the collapse of civilisation and human population. I know you don't believe it or even want to consider it a possibility, I can't say I blame you, who does? But that is what most scientists and politicians worry about as a likely scenario of runaway climate change, not a far-fetched one, which is precisely where we are heading if we don't make substantial changes to the way we live our lives. You're a young man, you'll probably live long enough, hopefully, to see it all play out. I wonder what you'll be saying then (not that there'll be an internet to post any thoughts on!) "Why didn't anyone do anything sooner?" maybe? Or perhaps you'll just be more honest "Oh well, I had a good time while it lasted, sorry grandkids!".

All for taking the environment seriously and protecting the planet where possible. Climate emergency nonsense helps no one and hurts the poorest and most vulnerable in society the most. Anyone who wanted a serious conversation around the planet would start with China, India, Russia and subjects like population control. They rarely go there and instead opt to focus on comical measures like net zero, electric cars (built via African slave labour and China) and smashing UK green policy, ignoring the fact that we are totally irrelevant in the debate. All while using their lovely new iPhone! We do have a population problem in the UK mind but again, no one wants to talk about that bit.

Tesco's standard carrier bags are now 30p. I won't be forgetting mine again.
If it stops people buying them, then it's a good thing.

Acknowledging climate change and enjoying sport and social activities are not mutually exclusive. I am also unsure of the connection between climate change and permanent lockdown. Mask wearing has nothing to do with climate change at all. Doing things like growing some of your own food can be satisfying and healthy. The fact remains that we are witnessing climate change and we have to address it. If you want a general rant against those who have a different opinion from you - that's fine, but to do it using the sort of language you use in your post will do nothing to convince those of us who base our opinions on evidence to change our view on what is an important issue.

For a start, you need just observe those posters who cheer on net zero and climate apocalypse porn compared to those who question the logic behind it. Do a similar comparison to those who celebrated and supported the obscene, oppressive measures introduced over the past few years in the name of covid - lockdowns, masks and buying into Frisky Fergies calamitous predictions to name a few - against those who questioned the decision making, questioned the evidence and warned of the economical crisis now facing us. You'll see quite the correlation 😆

This kind of article and belief is a big part of the problem, making out that anything but constant growth is a failure: Netflix loses almost a million subscribers"But the company, long accustomed to posting double digit growth, is grappling with its most serious slowdown in years, with revenue in the April-June quarter of $7.9bn, up just 8.6% year-on-year." serious slowdown and up just 8.6% - Netflix are still making $billions every quarter, growth or not. No one who has enough influence dares to address that expecting and aiming for infinite growth is impossible and what's put the planet in such a state (environmentally as well as the mental state of a high proportion of the population who feel inadequate if they don't have the latest thing). Developing new technology works to an extent but doesn't address the real problem. The only reason most governments (UK included) have a 'green agenda' is to stimulate growth. It's a mess that I can't ever see changing in my lifetime. Growth as an economic metric was introduced in a World War, when it was considered good for morale for a country to be churning out guns, tanks and other arms. It's ridiculous. Funnily enough, I subscribed to Netflix for the first time last week.
