Meanwhile the good souls of areas flooded earlier this week are saying that they need more funding for flood defences to counter the very real impact of climate change. Not sure where that funding is coming from. Well that's pretty much in line with the outcome of COP29 - the oil and gas lobby have sunk their fangs into every organisation setup to deal with climate change and the agenda is now dealing with the inevitable rather than stop it happening. The fact is most people either want to deny climate change is happening or don't want to do anything about it because it's inconvenient and there isn't the political will or world wide level of effective co-operation to make it happen and there are key players like Trump in bed with oil and gas and who are going to ignore the issue for popular support and a few backhanders. The fact is climate change is going to cause havoc. Millions are going to die and lose their home and whole countries are going to cease to exist. People are only going to do anything about this when there is a cataclysmic event like the collapse of the Antartic icesheet and even then it might be just a request for a few more sandbags. The country which is going to benefit from this is China. They know climate change is real and already way ahead of the game. By the time the West cotton on and decide they have to act China will make a killing selling their solutions. Dominating the world stage has always been about who is successfully utilising the cutting age technology. With the West still reliant on oil and gas China is going to make us look like a relic from a different age. Which is how it's going to go down in the history books. The same China that builds 2 new coal power plants a week and to whom we are sending climate funding to. That China?

Not sure where that funding is coming from. Because we're throwing money at 'green' agenda items that shouldn't be the current priority. That funding should be spent on drainage, weatherproofing and infrastructure improvements, but the people making the decisions won't benefit from that will they. I'd suggest we also look at rewilding and preservation projects too..e.g. peat bogs and wetlands.

The China that supplies a lot of the shit that people buy that they don't really need, stop buying things that are made in China !! They are building the coal power plants in response to the extra heat caused by climate change which caused issues on their grid because of the demand for AC with the reduction from Hydropower from the lack of rain, it's a massive build to bridge a gap, they are also installing the wind and solar equivalent of five large nuclear power stations per week, installing at least 10 gigawatts of wind and solar generation capacity every fortnight, Energy experts are looking to China, the world's largest emitter, once seen as a climate villain, for lessons on how to go green, fast.

The same China that builds 2 new coal power plants a week and to whom we are sending climate funding to. That China? Which is also the China rapidly transitioning to green technologies and already way ahead of the West in making the transition. We ushered in the age of coal and steam and reaped the benefits for a couple of centuries. That age is over, we are clinging on to it while China are looking to steal a march in the age of renewables. In comparison we are going to look like hunter gatherers in a few years time. I don't particularly like the regime in China but fair play - they take science and technology seriously and when they decide to do something they fo it. With so many vested interests, misinformation and lack of understanding of the issues the West is either struggling to acheive a consensus or are just interested in making a fast buck and dieing before the shit really hits the fan. Or in Musk's looking to get off the planet before it goes up in flames.
