Watched 'Belfast' Nicely shot but not much of a film. Turkish Delight scene was amusing I find Judi Dench (along with Helen Mirren) quite over-rated and when interviewed has an aura of self importance (which of course she isn’t!!) so I’ll skip this one ta

Saw ‘thirteen lives’ on Amazon Prime about the Thai football team cave rescue, 8/10. Directed by Ron Howard. A little bit too tense and claustrophobic in parts for those of a nervous disposition. Thought Colin Farrell (Irish) and Viggo Mortensen (Danish/American) did excellent with the English accents of the two main rescuers. Which brings me into the point of certain British actors who NEVER seem to be challenged into doing any accent other than their own which irritates me when you consider they keep getting loads of parts, I’m thinking primarily of Sean Bean but also Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Hugh Grant and James Nesbitt.

This is more about getting a nice shot of Belfast harbour and a lovely sky etc. You make a wise choice

Northern Ireland …… last time I looked it was / is still part of the UK but not part of Britain But people from N. Ireland are British citizens and can hold an Irish or British passport or both (Nesbitt holds both) Under the British Nationality act, anyone born within the UK (not just GB) is classed as a British citizen by birth, as long as 1 parent is also a British citizen or permanently settled in the UK. It's 100% acceptable to describe Nesbitt as a British actor.

An answer on yesterday’s The Chase was a movie I had never heard of. Network.
Having nothing else to watch I gave it a try and found a stream.
Really enjoyed it.

No one has said it's in Britain, which is a separate island to the one Northern Ireland inhabits (hence the term 'GB and Northern Ireland'). The OP has said that he's British which is a different thing altogether. Next time you fancy being argumentative for the sake of it, make sure that you have all of your ducks in a row 🙂

Worrying if not surprising news... Cineworld shares plunge on bankruptcy fearsBusiness conditions are tight, but, as far as I understood, Cineworld had made a string of bad business calls that left them with some huge debt exposure that is hurting them. Be a shame to see them go under. Hopefully, whatever happens, the cinemas they operate continue to operate. Good luck to them and their staff.

HorrorXtra are showing Xtro tonight, a video nasty from the 80s. Scared me more than Alien or The Thing as a kid, never expected it to be shown on TV as there's a couple of really nasty scenes in it

That's why that prequel to The Thing from about 10 years ago could never touch the original.

watched 'thirteen'. The true story of the thai cave rescue, with Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and some others. It does well in relaying the claustrobia throughout the film. I found myself holding my breath a few times. on amazon prime We watched this on Amazon last night. The first ten or fifteen minutes are a bit meh, but once it settles down it is an excellent watch.

Was at a loose end so watched Blood Red Sky on Netflix last night. I'm glad I'd never heard about it or watched any trailers of it because it would have spoiled it for me on many levels. As it was, I've got to give it a good 7/10 for surprises and a crazy plot that actually works. It worked so well that I ended up liking a film of a genre that doesn't usually interest me. No spoilers from me. That's all I dare say or it actually might spoil it for you. OS.

Apologies if already posted but I learnt today that in 2000 "an upstart company" operating on a postal movie-rental system offered to sell their company for £35 million to Blockbuster, the film and game rentals king at that time.
Netflix had roughly 300,000 subscribers, while Blockbuster had millions of them. Blockbuster passed on the opportunity to purchase their little competitor.
Netflix Inc value collapsed in April but is still quoted to be worth circa $100 billion and still has over 200 million subscribers.
Blockbuster went bankrupt in 2010, but there is still one shop existing in Bend, Oregon.

I tried watching "Me Time" (Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart) on Netflix last night, but could only make it through about 20 minutes. It might be one of those movies you can only finish by watching it in 5-10 minute chunks although I don't think I'll even do that.
