Glasgow’s cinemas have finally reopened so I’m catching up with the rest of you.
Any recommendations - things to look out for, ones to avoid.
Big shout out for Nobody - basically John Wick and every bit as good, if you like that sort of thing. Probably even more lol moments. Loved it.
No shout out for Nomadland - 2 hours of dreary misery. For folks who like worthy stuff. Sent me to sleep.

Wolfwalkers is well worth seeing on the big screen if it's on (I saw it last week at Vue). Some stunning animation - amongst the very best I've seen. Good story too.
I'm also keeping an eye out for classics - I saw Gladiator for the first time a couple of weeks ago and think the cinema was the best place to see it.
I'm on the fence about Nobody - I'll definitely watch it when it's out on DVD, but I'm not sure if it's a cinema film. Especially with it being short.

Saw Nobody - John Wick style nonsense but it moves well
Flashback - very good - really enjoyed it, though not sure it's in cinemas now

It felt good to be back. (I do enjoy the cinema!)

Where to begin with this (may contain spoilers) So suspend your belief Marky Mark is still in his 30s cross Highlander with the Matrix, throw in a bit 'we are all one under the skin' philosophy and you have Infinite I find Wahlberg totally unconvincing in any role and has all the charisma of a house brick 90 minutes of nonsense if you're bored on a wet weekend. Not as good as Nobody for all you geri-action fans. Imbd rated as 7.7 which is exceptionally generous. 5 from me would also be generous but I guess if you're 15 and never seen the above films cited then I'm sure it's amazing. Alas I'm nearly 55 and this failed to inspire me or soften my world weary countenance, which was further compounded by the last scene which seems a cynical PR exercise for old Marky (as not to spoil it I won't explicitly say what but add this criptic news story www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/mark-wahlberg-racist-hate-crimes-wikipedia-history-george-floyd-blm-protests-a9554191.html%3famp)Otherwise enjoy!

I think in general the last 5 or 6 years of cinema releases have been poor. So many directors etc going for content over quality. When 'Bohemian Rhapsody' won an Oscar it showed how pointless they had become. Was like one of those awful made for TV biopics you see on Hallmark during the day. Make a film re a historic character, an activist etc....here's an Oscar nomination. Spike Lee threw his toys because his blatant effort failed. He did make the mistake of Will Smith though

Applies to the current batch. Top marks to Nobody and The Father, a big raspberry to Nomadland.

May as well have given Tooth Fairy or The Klumps one compared to the competition.

Into The Earth More coherent than Wheatley's previous, low budget but very good. Don't expect a straight forward narrative - it gets trippy m.imdb.com/title/tt13429362/

The Tomorrow War
Time travel hokum with more plot holes than Swiss cheese where Chris I'm a Pratt along with his American buddies save the world and reunite his estranged family
2/5 bearable if you check your brain at the door beforehand

Great film. More crosses than a cemetery as one good cross deserves a double Great ensemble cast. Soderburgh delivers a bleak view of human beings, greed, commerce, capitalism and the disjointed American dream where the elite always win and a sucker never gets an even break. The dice is always loaded for the little guy. Gripping story, unpredictable turns, super performances 4.5/5 for me. Well worth a watch

really enjoyed godzilla vs kong, a very subtle look at the damage we have wrought on the environment personified by a chuffing big gorilla and giant nuclear lizard and the human cost of deforestation represented by a giant robot lizard, all very deep stuff

Mrs Md and I were flipping through Prime and a trailer for The Brass Teapot came up.
English lead is gorgeous too!
We do like a quirky film. I’ll not say much here but we loved it.
