Soon as I saw guardian it stops me clicking. I'm the same for Mail and Express.

He was decent when fit and used properly. Good player everywhere else. Shows what a rabble we had become that we couldn't get a tune out of him.

Soon as I saw guardian it stops me clicking. Totally your choice, but to deny yourself further insight and reading into our club purely because of a paper is bizarre. You didn't really need to announce it either.

I actually liked him and the last goal he scored for us showed he did put in the effort. Didn't play another game for us I think having got injured scoring it. I can remember feeling his injury was going to cost us more than the point (I think it was) that his goal earned us.

Say what you will about Hughes, Choupo and Joselu’s careers post Stoke show he had an eye for spotting talent.

He's still such an odd one. He looked so, so average for us. Not a huge amount of pace, had a bit of quality but nothing special. Brushed off the ball quite easily, appeared lazy. Absolutely nothing to suggest the career he was about to have. I think one of two things happened. Either he's one of those players who needs good players around him to play well and struggles when he's surrounded by lesser players who aren't on the same wavelength and the onus is on him to make something happen. Or at PSG and Bayern he found himself at clubs that aligned with the level that his ego says he should be playing at and consequently he was prepared to put the effort in. Rather than being at a stepping stone club like Stoke where the aim was always to get a foothold in the Premier League and move on to a bigger club at the first opportunity. In all fairness to him I didn't think he was bad at all for us when he played. It was more the players around him who went to shit. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't that good either. That's kind of the point. There were no flashes that suggested he had PSG/Bayern level potential. He looked like a player who had a bit more than he was showing and would do better with better team mates. But absolutely no one could have anticipated when we went down that May that he'd be moving on to Champions League clubs and excelling there. Although the Joselu one is even stranger because of his age and the number of clubs that he was average at before his sudden late career surge.

Soon as I saw guardian it stops me clicking. Totally your choice, but to deny yourself further insight and reading into our club purely because of a paper is bizarre. You didn't really need to announce it either. To try to score points there by criticising him for refusing to "read into our club", as if he should out of loyalty to Stoke is ridiculous mate. We're mentioned twice in the entire article and there's to nothing to "read into our club" in any of the content. "There will be those who wonder aloud how Choupo-Moting gets these gigs, as if that solitary relegation at Stoke City (when other bigger name overseas imports like Jesé and Ibrahim Afellay hardly covered themselves in glory) should define him" "If Stoke was a case of wrong place, wrong time, this is right place, right time" That's literally it about Stoke in the entire story. 2 sentences!

I also think he did fairly well for us when he was here, but he was compared to Arnie who had reached a level where he easily should have walked into any team in the league. Unfortunately only West Ham saw this, but he really deserved to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country when he left us. It's amazing the myths that can be created about ordinary playera. The fact that he moderately well for scfc doesn't mean he would have walked into Liverpool, Manchester or Arsenal.
