He scored last week too, so not so unbelievable.
But I reckon he learned his robust forward play at Clayton Wood. It's not pretty!

Certainly one of our better players as our Premier League star started to wane but I seem to remember he failed to put in a tackle on the goal line in an away game and the opposition scored and that was his goose cooked so far as most people were concerned.
Still who needs him when we now have Bomber Brown at our disposal?

He maybe rightly felt he was punching down, at little old Stoke. Did we play him up top much, I can't really remember?

Still who needs him when we now have Bomber Brown at our disposal? He got injured in his final appearance going in for a brave 50/50 with the goalie didn’t he? Think we scored from that play too. Mind you there were rumours he then wouldn’t play with injections for the rest of the season when we wanted him to, so who knows.

Then he played him in an Arnie-role (after the original had left) and Hughes found that he was just like Arnie, only worse. No tracking back anymore and so on. I think he might have played in a Mame Diouf-role too up front for a few games, only with more muscle. Don't think we ever played him in a Choupo-Moting role...

Not the biggest offender by a long way but disappointed all the same

He was and still appears to be a decent player. Our issue was keeping him and others interested and motivated. Once a player downs tools it’s best to get rid. I don’t recall Eric being that much of an issue but maybe he was behind the scenes? Still it’s another example of our inability to make money off a player.

He left each club at the end of his contract as I understand it, he must’ve been on more than a years contract with us, meaning we allowed him to leave early with us getting nothing more than his wages paid by another club.

More than anything, you have to look after your career. If you are like Chester was at Villa, where a promotion would mean the world, that’s one thing, but if you don’t think that staving off a relegation will be the highlight of your career, then you decide to look after your health. In my opinion, he made the right decision.

I mean, stay at stoke in the second teir or bog off to PSG and Bayern for Champions League 😊 I still find it incredible however that a player who seemed nothing special here ends up where he has Must have a bloody good agent

I'd be surprised if half the lads had heard of Paul Lambert. Imagine having to tell Zouma, Shaqiri, Choupo, Jese, Martins Indi etc that Paul Lambert is being rolled in to keep us up. That was probably the time to go continental.

You're not a pro footballer, so you're not expected to know such things. Still if you've never heard of Sammer, Chuipezat, Reuter, Klos, Heinrich, Ricken, Riedle, A. Moller, and Sousa, you might want to enter your brain for a serious update.

Decent international record as well. Real hero in Switzerland
