It has been reported on New Zealand radio that the email that was sent threatening their cricket team and causing them to abandon their tour of Pakistan, was sent from an address in India. This makes it look rather like a deliberate act of sabotage.
We could still have sent a team even if it was one with no one playing in the upcoming.World Cup.
I’ve no doubt a bunch of players would have jumped at the chance.
I read the story and thought fair enough who'd want to spend 4 or 5 weeks away from family behind such security, I then read it was actually 4 days long for 2 T20s as someone said thats a city break not a tour, Tom Harrison needs fucking off along with his bonus and the hundred, incorporate some changes into the blast 2 overs from each end cut down the time they have to piss around so the game is done in 75 minutes thats 16 overs an hour.
My heart bleeds for the overpaid pampered fuckers Half of them aren’t even good enough to of linseeded the bats of the great cricketers who used to spend weeks on a boat Just getting to there destination Without the ability to text ,video call or even telephone there loved ones
The overreaction and hysterics to people contracting covid (let alone fit, healthy athletes) never ceases to amaze me.
We get a minimum of 40,000 a day catching this thing in the UK alone which is killing around 0.2% of those who catch it - nearly all of which are over 80 or with severe underlying health conditions. It is now an almost entirely non fatal virus, what the fuck is society doing to itself. Its beyond pathetic.
Great finish bubbling up in the County Championship Div 1. Hampshire need 10 wickets against Lancs, who require 196 to win. Both teams need to win to stay in with a chance of the title, unless Warwickshire don't beat Somerset(unlikely).
Warwickshire need maximum bowling points to keep chances in their own hands, so need two more wickets in the next 18 overs to get the remaining bowling point. Jack Leach is at the crease. Will he hang on and deny Warwickshire?
This format has certainly created one of the most tense and interesting finishes to the season I can remember.

Been down at Edgbaston all day (free entry today and tomorrow - well done, Warks) and was keeping close tabs on the Aigburth events! Bloody roasting it was too!
That match went right to the last wicket, just when Lancs appeared to be cruising to victory. Thankfully they did it as that means the title is still (just) alive and between Lancs and Warks.
We need to smash a quick 100 or so off 20 overs max to leave Somerset a tempting fourth day chase of 250 or so from 75 overs.
Have to say I think the title will be Lancashire's, the Edgbaston pitch is a nice one to bat on and still not really playing up. It'll be some bowling performance to knock over ten wickets in just over two sessions. Can't see it happening but I'll take a trip down again on the basis of hope over expectation.
I'm with you on the format thing. Not sure how the sides outside the top division feel about four rather pointless matches? Perhaps promotion/relegation would resolve that?

Yeah it does look a tall order for them to force a victory tomorrow doesn't it? Fair play to them on the free tickets though, it's great for County Cricket! Good weather though, it's been miserable and dark all day here in the NW.
I think Leach and Gregory did the damage with that stubborn partnership. It will certainly make for an interesting final day tomorrow.

Great to see County Cricket doing well. This summer has shown exactly why red ball cricket isn't dead and exactly why we need to protect it more than ever.

Lancashire la la la
Warks were stuck between a rock and a hard place when it came to pitch preparation. On the one hand, they needed big batting bonus points to overhaul Hampshire if they won at Liverpool, on the other they needed a result pitch which might have been so low scoring as to deny them those batting bonus pts...
Don't think it'll happen today, but the fireworks in the first 15-20 overs should be fun. Sibley was chucking sixes around yesterday evening, yes, Sibley! Then pray for a bowling miracle...still, whatever happens, Friday at the cricket in the late September sun, beats working!
So a very bold declaration by Warks IMO, giving Somerset a target of 273 to win off around 79 overs I think. I think they will start off steady, but then go for it later in the day if they set a good platform. Lammonby looks in good touch and the pitch still looks very flat, even on day 4.
I thought they would've wanted a few more just to make sure, but I suppose they want Somerset to think they can chase this down and go for their shots. Should make for an interesting afternoons cricket! Just hope the rain holds off, as it's steady drizzle here in Manchester.
Congratulations Warwickshire, an excellent victory today on a very good wicket.
Gutted for my home county Lancashire......
Yep, especially after that dramatic win yesterday. I genuinely didn't think they would be able to force a victory on that placid surface, but sounds like a mixture of some good bowling and poor batting from Somerset.
Surely though, with the best two teams in the country meeting next week at Lords, the winner of that should be crowned champions? Just saying...

Think about that for a moment... 1st class cricket in England in October.

Wow.
I know, absolutely crazy isn't it? The forecast for next week doesn't look great either.
I remember watching T20 Finals day last year(empty stadium) which was on October 3rd. The teams were sat on the balcony in huge coats and hats, it looked awful.

Campiones...campiones...What a great day!
Hard luck to Lancashire who also had a great season (and might still win a trophy next week), well done to Somerset who by no means chucked it away and especially well done to Warwickshire who batted superbly this morning, set a good declaration with enough overs to give it a good blast and bowled beautifully on a road of a pitch and, unlike England!, held every last one of the chances that came their way.
Favourite moment - Woakes sending Craig Overton's off stump cartwheeling, the dirty Mankad-er! I'll show you who's England's best all-rounder, Craig, try playing this...to be fair to Overton, he gives a lovely little nod of the head afterwards as if to say, too good, Woakesy, too good...

Well played Warwickshire, I thought they’d blown it yesterday. Red ball cricket alive and kicking, now let’s get it live on free to air. BBC 4 or something would do🤷🏻♂️
He’s done the right thing. Root would have picked him until he was 50. Should have left the test scene when he took his break.
Cheerio Mo.
And thanks for the memories.
An elegant batsman who got out too often too cheaply with some appalling shots but was a delight to watch when he got going. A bowler who took an awful lot of wickets but frustrated with far too many poor balls.
It says a lot about Mo’s cricket that as someone who was a batting all rounder his bowling stats are better than his batting ones. He underperformed with the bat but overperformed with the ball (in terms of wickets if not average) which left his bowling average significantly higher than his batting average failing the classic test of an all rounder (even cutting a little slack for him being a spinner).
Could have done better is my assessment of him. But at his best, he was a joy to watch.
