Can only think of two last minute penalties for Stoke One we scored v PNE at the Brit off the ball incident The other when Berahino twatted the bar v Blackburn that would have been an equaliser Any others? Arnie at Everton was pretty late on wasn't it?

Rikki Dadason at Tranmere? Arnie at Everton? how could I forget them? How many last minute penalties against us? I can only think of Ayew, the penalty against Griffin for handball in the League Cup quarter-final, and (I think) the Arsenal FA Cup semi-final? There must be more, otherwise I don't think my persecution complex could handle it. EDIT: I think Swansea scored a last minute penalty against us on Boxing Day when Alan Ball was manager. Coincidence?

These ridiculous powers! What to make judgement calls against the rules? They may have been bad calls or even very bad calls but what would you have instead, never give a penalty except for a two footed head high challenge? No, I'd change it to penalty for denying a goal scoring opportunity or serious foul play or violent behaviour. The problem with the current situation is that a player running away from goal on the edge of the area who gets the slightest touch or sees a leg to fall over is getting a free shot at goal with the odds stacked in his favour. That can't be right and encourages players to cheat. A penalty is meant to be awarded if there's a foul - the same as anywhere else on the pitch a free kick would be awarded. It's not about the severity of the foul... I wonder how many referees see an incident in the box and think "is that a foul in the centre circle?" - if not then how can it be a penalty?

On that basis, the Swansea penalties against us and against Boro should be penalties as they would most likely have been given as free kicks in the middle of the pitch. Not right but on balance, likely. Almost any coming together in the centre circle is now given as a foul. There’s less uproar from players and fans as the rewards for and against are less impactful due to the location on the pitch. 5 minutes in to the next match and there’ll be a soft free-kick in an ‘innocuous’ area of the pitch. The refs know they’ll get less heat in those situations. So I guess we shouldn’t be surprised when such decisions are given in the penalty box. It’s all wrong of course.

When Charlie had a penalty parried against Brighton and then Dunk flattened him from behind as he was about to put the rebound into the net? had to check that one as well, you are right it was at the death Didnt Charlie score a late one a few years back in injury time?

I know that is how it currently stands and that's why Swansea have got those penalties. It's probably difficult to say that the referees got any of them wrong and they would all have been given under a VAR review and you can't accuse the Swansea players of diving, just of going down at the slightest touch. My argument is that the rule should be changed to stop teams getting a clear shot at goal in which the forward has all the advantages from a situation where they had no chance of getting a shot at goal. You could argue defenders need to be a bit cleverer but Clark for example realised what was happening ans slowed down but still got penalised. I don't think Swansea dive but they definitely know how to draw a foul and how to go down at the slightest touch which in my opinion is not in the spirit of the game.
