I’d still be looking to split them up in the next game. Middlesbrough are full of running in midfield and we will need to match them. Sam Morsey is just about as mobile as Mikel. Who else have they got?

Could do with a younger upgrade on Mikel if we have ambitions of moving forward, Allen still the best midfield player we have and a lot more to give - certainly at this level.
Manger did the right thing today getting 90mins into those legs - even though he looked tired.
Those that slate him show their lack of football knowledge - thank god our manager knows how important he is.

Only saw the second half because of work.... But from what I saw, I thought Allen was okay!!!

I genuinely think he has been, not because he's been the poorest player or rinsed us for value either. It's because hes continuously been played, we never needed him and he offers nothing going forward or defensively. We'd have been better off if he'd been exiled. The bloke is shite, can’t trap a ball, can’t maintain position, can’t pass, can’t shoot, can’t do anything other than run like a twat that’s been tasered. We never needed him and his signing completely unbalanced the team, he was playing as a number 10 instead of Bojan for Christ’s sake just because he had a weird 5 game spell of goals, he was a mainstay in the team that was relegated from a league where Huddersfield bastard Town stayed up over us, he then continued to be even more wank in a lower division where we almost dropped again, that’s strange I thought we’d got this supposed Welsh superstar that we were lucky to have, I’d rather play my nan in midfield and she’s been in a jar for 11 years. Financially not the worst signing, but in terms of impact on the team he’s in a league of his own, he’s usurped Salif Diao as my least favourite Stoke player of all time, I can’t stand him. What did you do pickle her instead of cremating her?

Allen started fine like he has most games but since his injury he's knackered at half time and needs subbing, same as Mikel.

I’ve relearned this league since we came back down, and it’s not the names it’s how they come together as a unit. Some on here disagree, but the championship has always been the same. Its not overly tactical, it’s about organisation, running, competing and having a cutting edge with a bit of class up front.

Absolutely. I've just said pretty much exactly that on another thread.

Allen got into the Keith Scott club with that miss and his overall performance was abysmal. He may be likeable but he is a very poor footballer. Mikkel meanwhile is a good footballer going through the motions for his "pension".

When considering his contributions, they have been less than satisfactory. His attitude might be great, and that is better than since of the shit that are and have been at the club, but on the field he is worse than Whelan or Whitehead and that for me is certainly not good enough for promotion. So if we are to aspire to that standard, he has to go

I'm not sure he intentionally keeps it simple, more a complete inability to do anything other than screen* the defence and pass sideways. *Runs from side to side, not actually doing anything. He's been an abysmal signing. Genuinely abysmal. The fact that people are calling for Jordan Cousins ahead of him says it all. Thats all he's meant to be doing, its also pretty much all Cousins needs to do too, you don't want the guy thats meant to be protecting the defence doing anything risky. Cousins would be as well as Mikel for me given our current injuries. I don't buy it at all. There's being cautious and then there's playing to the detriment of the team. Offers absolutely nothing in attack or defence other than filling space. Total shite.

If Joe Allen is the best midfield player we have then we should be in the Conference North. The previous managers knew how important he was as well, those that all ended up getting the sack. The kindest word I can use to describe Allen is dogshit.

I think it was his form, last year, along with Powell and Campbell that mean we are playing Championship football this season, instead of playing tier 3 footie. All of the previous managers consistently played him because he is dogshit?
