All five doing well up to present. Just wish these rainy nights would bugger off. If it stays dry from about six o'clock to ten o'clock they should be fine, the parents will have enough time to feed them. They took 24 prey items back the other night, cracking parents. Attachment Deleted

Seagull update. There’s now 5 babies I know of, it’s like a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock film now! Are they classified as vermin?🤔

Cracking photo there. Reminded me of a recent gogglebox episode when they were watching a Wild Isles episode and people were saying 'they didn't realise there were puffins in the UK' Lots of people are so far removed from nature these days

Guy clearly put time effort in to get that shot so fair play.
As a wildlife photographer this is what im up against lol.
I love the Great Grey Owl shot in that selection.
If someone said i could photograph one bird next. The Great Grey Owl it is.

Attachment DeletedClick and Zoom Zoom… Saw a relatively low flying plane heading east in the back garden today. Within seconds, another plane came from behind the house heading north west. Don’t know if in aviation terms it would have been classed a “near miss”, but they were at similar heights and very little distance separating them. As I looked at the second plane, I initially thought there was a third even closer. On a closer look, it was in fact a bird. While the planes were “low flying”, it was a certainty high for bird. Watched it for a good 5 mins just gliding on the thermals. Never flapped once… A Buzzard? Just noticed the cloud at the base of that photo is a sort of a spooky bird design too 😯

Distant Osprey taking a dip this afternoon looking for food. I was invited onto water for a trip up the Dyfi estuary last week by the harbourmaster for a guided tour and a few photo opportunities. Beautiful day and high tide so we could almost get to see the Osprey nest site. There's a restriction around the area but they've all gone back to South Africa now so no shots. Watched the herons coming and going from their nests but no signs of the Egrets. Quite possibly the best couple of hours I've had since living here, blue skies and calm water, very knowledgeable skipper and a unique angle to see common sights.

On the footplate firing an engine up the valley today. At the last count we chased two buzzards through the woods about 10 feet in front of the loco for roughly 100 yards. On the way back down I counted 4 and my driver had one on his side, amazing when they're that close.

Sounds like i was my kind of trip. Yes Osprey all but migrated in most areas now.

We've got a couple of Jay's that keep coming into our garden over the last week or so. I knew what they were straight away as I used to be really into wildlife books and art as a kid, but I genuinely don't think I've ever seen one before in real life.

Loved this image of a South American potoo. Their camouflage plumage is incredible, could easily be just a broken stump of wood...
