At the end of last season I traded what was left of my Season Ticket for a pass to watch all the remaining games via the official stream. I hated it! I hate watching Stoke on TV anyway, but without a crowd it was even worse I decided not to bother with any streaming...official or otherwise, not about the money. Average home match would cost me £20 in fuel, £10 in beer + SC...on a quiet day. Away games could really run the price up, especially if we made a weekend of it... There is was always so much more to match day than the game itself...really miss it

People watch it in groups of more than one? The match is more than just the football? Why pay a tenner when you can get it free or for a quid on here? Football is sterile without crowds? The offering is piss poor?

Like I said at the time, if the club did a season pass for around 1/2 of what they were charging for a full season + add in some extras such as money off wearables, we'd see a lot more takers. It's a stale offering that is bypassed by people watching in groups, not bothering or going down the quid route.

There are 9 games in December I think, I know I'm not going to be paying £90.

Seems fairly decent to me.
Some will watch as households, my dad and sister are part of the same bubble so they watch together. Some just won't have any interest in watching live and would prefer to listen to the radio etc. Some will obviously watch "other" streams.
Not a surprising number......

Stoke don't even provide a decent backdrop for the live streams. Numerous teams in the Champo including Bristol City, Watford & Luton for example have a proper TV style production surrounding the matches they provide links to, with matchday presenters & guest stars discussing team news prior to the game then incorporate half time & full time analysis aswell as part of your matchday subscription fee.
Watched the recent Watford-Stoke game with a Watford fan mate who subscribed to their Hornets channel & they had GNW & Tommy Mooney chatting to the presenter pre match! Just abit of effort & thought & Stoke could have a real premium match day service for every matchday home & away. Even during non CV times, plenty of fans would benefit from being able to subscribe & watch online in this format. If teams like Luton & Bristol City can do it & they've not got recent Premier League experience like ourselves & Watford have, surely Stoke can provide a service better than what they currently do. Im sure a better matchday presentation service & a more competitively priced payment scheme could see Stoke dramatically improve their official stream subscribers.

I'm just not paying a tenner for a stream that regularly breaks.

I tried to set it up twice at the end of last season, it wouldn't accept my number so I gave up, Stoke's IT system is crap at times and be reading some remarks on threads on here over the months, it seems it sill isn't great or the match commentaries.

I’ve watched every one of our matches this season (apart from the ones on Sky) on the £10 Stoke City streaming service and have not had any technical problems at all, not once. The coverage is a bit basic but that’s fine. I just want to watch the match, I don’t expect fancy videos or studio discussion. The Radio Stoke commentaries are really not so bad either. I’m very happy with the service and would much rather pay Stoke City the £10 than watch an illegal stream.

Agree with all the comments above. I have subscribed to every match home and away until recently and have not been able to watch a full game.
Nothing to do with my internet. Have now given up and won’t be subscribing anymore.⚓️👎

I am with you,i have c.o.p.d. so attending is a risk if it was possible so £10 is fine,i save at least £15 fuel,2hrs driving,£6/8 parking+admission cost, my drinks are free,i recline on a leather sofa with my bollocks snug and warm not frozen off.I am also in no danger of getting sprayed with beer by a small moronic minority at the ground and no wading through piss in the toilet.

These are genuine questions. I had not heard of IPTV until I read your post just now.

I use one of the other services for a quid. If it was £5 per game I may have the proper one but like said above 90 quid in december is way too much to fork out, given monthly payment of season ticket were around 30 quid.

Because they have no choice, it's illegal copyright infringment. IPTV just refers to TV over the Internet, various "packages" offer access to foreign servers screening thousands of channels and events online for a relative pitance.

Wasn't there a report showing Stoke was the most-watched team via official streams post-lockdown last season? I think even above Leeds, though Leeds being on TV more often would account for that.

I've never had a problem with the official streaming. It comes on straightaway and has never frozen. The commentary is no worse than most football commentaries. I have watched most games on the streaming this season, other than those on Sky/red button which I already pay for.
The thing about the other streaming services is that they are illegal. Copyright is an important law, not just in sport but in music, film and the arts in general. It does not just secure the income of rich people, but supports the livelihood of all the other lower paid workers involved in producing the product. Ordinary working folk. Do you know what dodgy characters your payment to an illegal service goes to?

i have paid for all the matches i've been able to watch.
£10 is far less than i'd normally spend on a matchday, so i don't mind. I appreciate a lot of people may not be in the same boat financially, however, the club have looked after us fans very well in recent years, so if i can put some back into their coffers, no matter how small, i will.
I think it's the right thing to do, and karma etc...

The club tried hard to keep its costs down to allow for the average supporter to still go and watch Prem games etc when the times were good. It’s a shame that so many refuse to pay that back. Hopefully they can hold out another year or so for fans to return.

There are 9 games in December I think, I know I'm not going to be paying £90. It’s all about choice really I sopose. It’s actually £50 though really isn’t it. 5 home games and 4 away. Before the pandemic you couldn’t stream live away games anyway. But probably like me. If it’s there your going to be tempted. It’s all a bit shit though whichever way you look at it.

Does the money go to to the club? Well the first £1.67 will go to government in VAT. Then I guess a chunk will go to the EFL and the service provider. Beyond that I guess whatever is left would either go to the home team, or be split between the home and away teams, or go into a central pot to be split between all teams in accordance with some agreed formula. The short answer is that I don’t know. But I’d quite like to know the answer if anyone knows it!

My take on it is if people can afford it and it goes to to the club then it might be just what keeps the club afloat that’s why If the options there I’d rather pay for the official stream. I’m not kidding my contribution will make the difference but it feels like I’m doing the right thing for the club.
