Had a bit of the Fonz about him today I thought, shielding the ball brilliantly and always looking calm and assured. Played a delightful ball down the right at one point too. 

Him and Thompson were a brilliant pairing for me, and complimented each other very well.

Ive got a feeling he will need a rest soon, he looked knackered towards the end today.

He is growing with each game, he was excellent today, I think he will be impossible to replace if he does need a rest or picks up an injury.

He’s done a decent job so far but does seem to tire quickly after an hour or so. Much like the rest of the squad.

Mikel as the op says to me had an Nzonzi game a lot of calm control and holding physically off several brentford players in the 2nd half.

Thompson had a steady game and looks a better match in 3-4-3. Since Clucas is out and the slight system change though home games the balance looks better, long may it continue.

I am a strong believer in building a team around a solid consistent spine: Davies, Soutar, Mikkel and Fletcher is as good a combination as we have had in quite a while, and a good foundation to build on.

I don’t expect him to run a game. I don’t have any expectations for him and he still doesn’t match them 😂and this eye for the pass. When? The one against Gillingham and I’m struggling after that.

I’ve liked Mikel so far but think he’s been poor the last two games. Looks like he needs a rest tbh. But a genuine rest.

He made one decent pass today that wasn't more than the basic side ways or backwards, against Gillingham he ran the show and thats been his best game so far but against better opposition he doesn't look like he can be anywhere near as good, mainly because they won't sit back and let him do what he wants like Gillingham did. I can't see any position for him long term and for me he should be behind a still learning Boothe.

Cousins has shown time and time again he’s better than Thompson.

I’d actually play Tymon there tbh. His best games have been in midfield and he does so much more than Thompson in there.

I just don't get what you dislike about Thompson, he can certainly pick a pass, gets a tackle in, reads the game quite well. Tymon you may have a point, I thought though when he started in the same 11 as Clucas they just got in each others way, it just didn't work so one has to go. Mikel and Thompson have started together 3 times and we have won 2 drawn one. He will get better too, as will one or two other of our youngsters.

There’s nothing to like bar his set pieces which in the last two games have been poor.

When has he picked a pass? He attempted 28 today and only 71% were successful. He was awful in the resumption and before lockdown he had an ok game against someone but other than that was the player we see now. Just someone who doesn’t do much of anything.

He didn’t make a tackle either today btw.

He’s nearly 24, he’s not a youngster.

Its like having a referee you don't notice, its a sign they are doing their job. We are Stoke City we are where we are and have the quality of players we have for a reason. Things are going quite well for now.

With the passes he makes ie short simple it should be 80%. He doesn’t try any hard passes.

I noticed him loads. He did my head in and I wanted him subbed at half time 😂we have better players than Jordan Thompson. Indeed every other midfielder in the first team squad!

They ran past them time and time again. And then played the ball wide, the same ball over the top. Their passing off thankfully hence why they created naff all but it didn’t mean they weren’t bypassing our midfield.

Mikel made up for it a bit with some good passing. Thompson did sod all.

I still haven’t seen what people rave about. Is he a shield for a defence... no. Does he offer anything in the final 3rd.... no... I’m sorry but I’m struggling I really am.
