I like how intelligent he is on the ball and how he is nigh on impossible to knock off it. He shields the ball really well. Off the ball he hasn’t plugged the gaps yet like I thought he would. We’re quite easy to walk through. His passing has been a real surprise, in the sense of that I didn't think it would be progressive but it's brilliant and has made a difference to our attacking play. Yesterday I thought that was off. But he needs a rest, I think that's clear.

I know you've tried but you're not the only contributor to this thread. I don't take anything you say seriously. Stoke fans historically hate DM's, until we haven't got one. Have they since when? And Mikel hasn't been a DM for us, far from it imo. He leaves way too many gaps. His passing and attacking play has been the good side of him and where he's shown his quality. Defensively there's been little. If that's what you think you haven't been watching him. I keep banging the drum about how good defensive midfield players don't have to run and tackle a lot so often go unnoticed because they just happen to be in the right place. I love the way he often watches a long ball coming and instead of challenging a player just backs off so that the player glances the ball to where he' s standing. That's class. If he needs to like yesterday he will tackle and sometimes foul but usually doesn't need to and most of all he is always there. His passing is improving with game time and I suspect he is doing a lot of coaching on the pitch.

I don't think Mikel does it. I love a good defensive midfielder who plays how you say but I don't see it in Mikel. His passing has been brilliant. Bar yesterday.

I think with Allen alongside him and a rejuvenated Clucas, we would have a nicely balanced midfield.

He's a got a brain above others and the ability to pull it off. Needs to be handled carefully with coming on after 70 mins some games to see the win out and getting a rest.
Saying this his body may still be fitter than ever and can cope.

Question as those two are definitely two of our best players who gets left out in this system I’d go Davies Smith souttar (baht or Collins ) fox Allen Mikel clucas Campbell fletcher McLean But he has to drop Powell To do that and change the system or mikel or go Davies Collins. Souttar. (Baht or fox ) Mikel Brown Allen clucas McLean Powell Campbell fletcher

I looked at the second team thought that is too good to be true. It is unless the rules have changed.

I thought he was brilliant on the ball yesterday.
Can tell he's got a footballing brain 3 or 4 levels above everyone else on the pitch.

Our strongest 11 contains Fletcher, Powell, Campbell, Clucas, Allen and Mikel in front of a back four. However, it could only work with Tyrese wide (as he is, to be fair), and Clucas pushing up from a wider left midfield position. Not the quickest team, but the best ability wise.

Looks the perfect diamond to me. Never speak of the diamond again! 😂 As shown with the 3-5-2 and under Jones, we need better wing backs for that. I am excited about seeing Allen, Clucas and Mikel all pushing for a spot though. Clucas needs to find his goalscoring boots. If he does, he may be fighting Powell for the more attacking spot on the field.

Mikkel is not the player he was. However, he is still a notch above most midfield players in the championship. He’s very calm under pressure and rarely makes a bad pass. We’d be a total disaster without him, if you think about who there is to replace him.

(Baht or fox ) Mikel Brown clucas McLean Allen Campbell fletcher With Powell off the bench as an impact sub. I think Allen has the energy to play the more advanced roll and given clucas and Mikel behind him will have more freedom to be a nuisance.
