Some great posts on here over the festive period. Let’s keep going lads! How’s everyone getting on? Like many I can’t wait for the lighter days and evenings, and for the leaves to grow. Still, you have to try and make the most of things, so I’ve got the window open with some lovely fresh air coming through. Really enjoying Football Manager as I do every time Santa gets it. How are you, Pedro? Hi Cheadle. Cheers for asking. A bit up and down to be honest. Yearning for spring like everyone else. Settling into a new life in a new area, which is tough at times. Just keeping going and wondering what it’s all about. 🙂

Hopefully a few Stoke wins over January and February to keep our spirits up over the cold dark months and before we know it it'll be March and spring time. And then the push for an outside shot at the play offs 😉 Keep dreaming chaps 🙏 Yoos just never know😃

A lovely crisp and frosty morning up here in Manchester. Sun is out and a nice blue sky. So not bad to be fair particularly as the mighty potters picked up 3 away points over the weekend 😊 get in 👍

Rarely get to games these days living where I do and since losing my dad the experience would be completely different. He'd love this almost resurrection although the skeptic in him was always close to the surface, have a great game 👍 PS. I've still got some oatcakes in the freezer he used to post to me, hopefully they're still alright after roughly 18 months 🤔😄

However despite the loss there are still a lot of positives to take from the game. Burger is absolute class. And the players battled all game. 22 shots on goal, 5 on target. We're just a striker and maybe a commanding centre half from a decent side. Schumacher will see us reet. Keep the faith 🙏

My dad was a bit different from yours Chuffed in that he was a big Vale fan. From the age of , it must have been, 6 or 7 I can remember us walking from Chell to the Vale and him picking me up as we went through the turnstiles , presumably to get in free. He was born in Hot Lane and played in some local cup final on the Vale old ground, 0pposite Lewis's. The only time I saw him talk with real passion was when he recalled the 1954 FA cup semi final against West Brom, adamant that Vale were robbed....I've looked into it and they were. At the Vale games I used to sit virtually on the edge of the pitch in the Hamil Road end, you could smell the linament on the players' legs when they took corners. One of the players was Selwyn Whalley who later on was my PE teacher at Hanley High School. I think I must have "gone over to Stoke " in late juniors and senior school, through mates. Unlike some, I would like Vale to do well ( but obviously not as well as us), because I think it adds to the status of Stoke on Trent to have two league teams.

I well remember Fizzer Whalley at HHS Big John. It was common knowledge that he was an ex Vale player so the Stoke fans amongst us used to wind him up every PE session that we had. It got to such an extent that he eventually snapped with us and put about 15 of us in detention for 2 weeks. We eased off a little but used to regularly have little spells where we goaded him. Happy days !

Happy days ! Dee, I recall an incident when Fizzer walked down a corridor eyeball to eyeball with a known miscreant, Thompson, who was " smiling " in an "intimidating/Cheeky/ cocky" way. After they passed each other....Fizzer yelled " Thompson!".,.Thompson turned around " You can't touch me, I've not done anything " response" I know you haven't but I'll fizzing get you son" Justice was a bit......unjust. Do you remember Rocky Turner, Jimmy Hil and Warrilow, the physics teacher....He used to cane ( literally) half the class every Monday for failing his homework. After he'd caned half one week, he gave the homework back out. Everall, who was caned virtually every week put his hand up " Sir, I should not have been caned this week, I've passed" The response" Never mind , you must have done something!"

Yes I remember all three of them Big John. Do you remember Graham Eardley the French teacher ? I got caned by mistake instead of another lad who'd not handed his homework in and Eardley caned me instead despite my protests. He checked, found I was telling the truth (but didn't apologise to me), then caned the other lad as well.

Our 'old fat bastards who should know better' kick about on a Saturday evening started back again since New Year. What a difference it makes getting out and doing some physical activity! It's a decent set of lads too and as everyone is typically 40+ nobody is absolutely rattling in like it's the Champions League. Typically had 8v8 and 9v9 last three weeks so long may it continue as it went 5 aside a couple of weeks before being called off for Christmas and that was too hard.
Had got in the habit of 5-6 pints on a Friday night and same again on Saturday but now don't drink on Friday as I was absolutely wank the one week I tried it and by the time I'm back in the house Saturday a couple does it before I'm ready for bed. Feel miles better for it and reckon I'm on the verge of trying to do something mid-week for fitness.
I got invited and really didn't fancy it as didn't know anyone there really apart from one dad from the girls football but so glad I decided to give it a go.

I remember a maths teacher called Mildenhall, only there a short time, may have been supply....assaulted me for no reason, never gave an explanation.....In today's climate, things would have turned out differently. Rocky Turner used to " cane" people with anything he could get hold of....Slippers, canes, pieces of broken chairs. One day he could not find anything , was getting angrier and angrier.....ended up breaking up a chair....which seemed to be still usable

Coming up to 3 weeks back on the PT train. Feels good to be on a plan again with additional accountability. The weight drop hasn't been huge to start with, but I didn't think it would be anyway. Going in a good direction though.
I'm off to Greece again in May, this time with the missus, so want to get back in better shape for it. And I also want to looking fucking amazing for her as well. As much as she tells me I already do, and I appreciate that a lot, I know I can look a LOT better.

Definitely going to be a harder experience this time round, given my lower starting weight and building back up fitness wise, but I'm confident once I've fully taken control of things I'll be back to where I at least was 4/5 months ago. Just requires patience, and that's a good quality to have when it comes to weight and muscle build.

That’s my excuse anyway. But it is true that you tend to ignore yourself a bit in favour of making the woman happy. I think🤔
