Funny how he’s played his best 2 games this season (the last 2) but has been ‘hung out to dry’, ‘mucked about’ and thrown under the bus by the manager? Which other club plays their best and most creative player as a number 8, number 10, number 9 and an auxiliary wide forward over a 12 month period? Most clubs play them in their proper positions and build a side around them. When MON talks about him, all he does is praise his flexibility, his work rate and extoles his ability to fit into the system he chooses to play.

The perception does seem to be that he's, more than the average player, attached to living in Cheshire - and that held sway when he was considering what to do when he left Wigan. If there was interest (this isn't a great source but he does seem the kind of domestic player Bruce would feasibly be interested in), no doubt he would be attracted to the Prem, even though Newcastle continue to be a car crash, but would someone perceived to be a homebird really push for it? No idea about what kind of fee we could look for. 18 months left on his deal, right at his peak age. I was under the impression he only signed a 2 year deal, and so he would only have 6 months left? I may well be wrong. It would be really disappointing to lose him, his form seems to have really picked up in the last few weeks. Him and Fletcher together could just give us enough to make the playoffs. MON confirmed he's contracted 'til '22 a few weeks ago, which is a relief

Powell is the last player that I'd want to sell. Collins and Campbell are really young and have their whole careers in front of them. And it is fairly obvious that they will move on at some point in the next season or two. If Campbell wasn't injured there would be bids coming in for him left right and centre.Powell though has had his big move and it didn't really work out for him with the size of the squad at United, plus his injuries. I hope he's found his home with us and I would like to see him stay and play regularly as I think he will go down as a bit of a legend in years to come Real quality at this level. When we are able to get back in the stadium again. Powell is the sort of quality player you pay to watch.

Well you've decided he hasn't, so there doesn't look like there's too much room for a debate? He made a good fist of playing as a number 9 on Friday, but he's useless to the side there in it, as he can't play in behind as effectively as he can with his back to goal. For as well as we played and for as much intent we showed, we only really troubled Watford late on when we went 442. At Rotherham he played in two different positions. I thought he looked better later on when he was moved centrally behind Fletcher. He's got a great attitude and that is to his credit.

Although I don't want to lose Collins or Powell, it's actually nice to see interest in our players. It indicates some progress. Unfortunately we there's nobody interested in the ones we want rid of.

If we sell Powell this window, you can only conclude that the aim is to stop scoring goals completely.

I'd sell Powell before I'd sell Collins Other way round for me. Powell is brilliant at this level, he's arguably our best player. Collins is a great prospect, but he's not there yet and my biggest concerns are our immediate future. I don't want to sell either frankly, if we lose the few decent players we have when we are failing to sell all the other tossers it'll make me feel quite sick.

Michael O’Neill has also got to be inspiring Powell, because in the past how long would Powell be on the sidelines with the slightest of injuries ? He must be fouled more than most players but now he gets up and carries on.

I thought the same cause it's what FIFA said and they're usually spot on, MON confirmed 2022. Could be that there's an option we are exercising perhaps.

I can't see him staying. If the price/deal is right, Powell will definitely go to Newcastle in a week's time. What is more important for us is to snag a replacement striker, before the transfer window closes.
