Out of curiosity what sort of midfielder is Porter? Could he slot in to the 2 or is he more of an attacking midfielder like Powell? Box to box, pass and move, all action sort really. All action, you say? Sounds like a young Joe Allen😉

All action, you say? Sounds like a young Joe Allen😉 He's got way more discipline. As we’ve discussed, I’m an Allen fan, and you make some valid points on him. Having a disciplined, box to box, pass and move all action midfielder is what we’ve needed for years. I would happily see him in the squad over Allen if this is the case!! Could do with a loan? Or ready to make the bridge like how Collins did, few bit parts here and there and a few starts? Or ready to be chucked into the deep end?

Happily have him on the bench but I think he needs a loan yeah. Collins is imo one of the best centre backs for his age in the world. He's a different class to any of the young players we have.

We’ve got a cracking academy at the moment, just seems as though we are getting short on players, although, hopefully these are ‘the cream’

He wants to be proactive and protect them from having bad games together. So it would seem to be one of the young+Shawcross, which not a lot of Stoke supporters would oppose. Except...O'Neill wants to have Chester in his teams.

Some logic there, except the list goes Young uns > Shawcross > Batth > Academy player > a fan > an elderly fan > my nan > Lindsay > a new born child > Chester That’s actually how much I rate Chester, although, credit where credits due, he played well in the last two. Still can’t clear a ball forward(seems to slice everything) still gives me palpitations when he’s near the defensive situation. His inability to win headers with his compromised height is a serious issue. Puyol was smaller and still aerially dominant into his mid 30s

Porter plays so I’m guessing a third central midfielder is fit for tomorrow.

Fog swirling like Victorian London - am expecting Jack The Ripper to appear at any minute. Most interesting things so far (apart from the fog) is Kevin Russell and Steve Stone yelling.

Birmingham seem to be scrapping their academy, and going for a Brentfordy 'B' team idea

Ended 3-2 to newcastle. 3-0 then Newcastle had a man sent off before Forrester (83) and Varian (88) pull it back.

Also Mohamed Akanji has disappeared of the face of the planet. Where is he?
