Perhaps a bit premature to say but what should we expect?
If we’re ‘in the conversation’ come January time for the playoffs then MO’N would have done exceptionally well. Are we to expect that though?
I reckon anywhere between lower mid table and 7th to 8th is reasonable with our squad at the moment. The Champo is impossible to predict but if MO’N came in a few games before he did then we were probably finishing around there this season..
Obviously this is all depends on the additions MO’N adds and whether we manage to keep hold of Campbell, Powell, Clucas etc. But I think we’ve got reason to be fairly positive heading into next season.

Like MON said in his post match interview I think being in the top half of the table next season would be an achievement in the final games. We've still got a lot of players to move on and FFP is such an obstacle at the moment.

Promotion has to be the aim surely?
Mid table more likely but if you’re not going for promotion then what’s the point?
MON should be looking at imo a lower bottom half finish next season and then promotion.
He’s shown he can make a team play in this league. It’s about transfers now and that’s where as a club we struggle. What can he do? What can he influence? And can that bring the players that we actually need?

If we don’t improve I’d expect 8th (ish), based on MON’s record here. Small improvements should see us bothering the play offs and with 3 or 4 quality signings, who knows. If we’re not 8th or higher I’ll be disappointed tbh.

Play offs if we can get rid of some and bring in some fresh faces.

Aren't we about 11/12 points off the play-offs? And that's with mad Nath's woeful first half of the season. We've surely got to be aiming for promotion.

His experience just isn’t there. You add that with what we know about our club and it makes the transfer side very interesting. I just don’t want a shit NI striker rocking up like that carthorse at Hull.

Automatic promotion
Then if we fail slightly we're still in the playoffs

Play offs. Definitely. MON only has to improve on his away form slightly and that would do it 👍

To stay up. Fuck sake play offs ? We’ve only stayed up this year by the skin of our teeth along with the previous 2 seasons.

I’d imagine his private expectations will exceed what he publicly states. Why would he want create unnecessary pressure on himself and the team?

Play offs. Absolute disgrace that we’ve been fighting relegation from this god awful league. Big rebuild needed.

Clear the monumental amount of dross we’ve accumulated, create a squad with a bit of identity and hopefully some consistency, with the aim of a top 10 finish.
I don’t think this is beyond the realms of possibility, we won’t be in the mix at the top next season, our problems are so deep rooted it’s going to take O’Neill at least another season to really iron out the shite.

You have to aim for promotion or whats the point really, but anything between play-offs and 8th would be great shift a few more dross then push again. We need to go up stable not bloated with wasters who will want pay raises and bonuses even though they have done fook all except drag the club down

To stay up. Fuck sake play offs ? We’ve only stayed up this year by the skin of our teeth along with the previous 2 seasons. Yeah I think it’s fair. And that’s from someone who bet on relegation this season last May because he had no faith in Nathan Jones. And someone who when people were going off their heads because we’d spent 50m was saying this is a midtable squad. I genuinely think MON is good enough to make a team push for the play offs next season if we can get the transfers right. So that’s a big if with what we know our club like with transfers but yeah I think it’s realistic.

Failing that just having a good season Just missing out on the play offs like we did in 2007 might work?

Top half. There's a lot of shit to clear out which won't happen overnight although a full season of MON in charge should see us nowhere near the lows of this season.

From what you’ve seen under MON you think the realistic aim is to just stay up? Really? Yes, most of the players aren’t good enough. Hasn’t MON proved that’s not really the case though? Under him we’re 3 points off the playoffs or something stupid. We’ve got some gaping wholes to fill in the squad. And we’re going to be handicapped until we get some additions in for them. Add a LB, defensive midfielder and right winger to this team and we’re laughing. Use the loan market well.

Don’t see why we shouldn’t be aiming for promotion. Millwall, Blackburn and Swansea have all challenges for the play offs this season

We fell apart from 2-0 up against QPR and ended up losing 4-2(against a team that had not scored a goal for 6 matches), got mullered by Leeds, Wigan and Derby and all this has been under MON's watch in the 2nd half of the season.
We don't have a solitary defender in the squad that is top half material, heck we don't have a viable defender at all in some positions. Defensive wise we are in a catastrophic position - so for me depends on what happens to the back four pre-season.
We know the board/backroom staff don't think we have issues defensively and we know that MON does think we have issues in defence. So it will be a battle for MON to improve in this area as he will be fighting against the well-known egos that have ran the club into the ground.
If we don't improve massively in defence then all other areas are insignificant
