Top 8. There’s not that much between most of the sides. We should be not much behind the likes of Preston and Millwall and they weren’t far off the playoffs. If we can address our weaknesses then we can make the playoffs Get a CB, LB, DM and winger in and we’ll be close. We have some decent youngsters coming through too.

Didn’t we think the same about jones and rowett ? Have we still not learnt not to get our hopes up ? Looking back the optimism we had at the start of last season was just clutching at the shortest of short straws. i.e the players training with a smile on their face so they must be buying into the manager's ideas. An absolute load of pie in the sky bollocks looking back but it's all we had to be happy about then. This is different though. MO'N has shown we can be a good team. We've had some low points but equally some high points. Improve our away performances and I have no reason to believe we won't do significantly better than under Jones and Rowett. Time will tell and I hope you’re right.

Declared league champions by mid-April following a 12 point deduction for floundering FFP rules. Fuck it.

10th & then get ready for the contract cull Mind you if you believe the suggestion on the MON thread, Wilder will be our manager sooner rather than later which means top 8

This depends a lot on the transfer window in my opinion! If we can get some of the dead wood out and make room for 3-4 quality signings we could hope for the playoffs, but if not we will be lucky to end up like this season I think.

Chasing pack for playoff for me, that 7th-10th pack.
Lots of if buts and maybes (players out, players in and Campbell & Doherty) but play like today every game and no reason we can’t be in the playoffs.

I am hoping for at least shouting distance of the play-offs, 10 -15 more goals, a solid core of young , athletic players and a coherent style of play. A base to build a realistic challenge for top six the season following.

Disregarding injuries, drama, and Godzilla attacks: If we go for it (And learn how to make subs)- probably 7th-10th like clarkeda said or higher.
If we get all defensive and clenchy-assy, trying to play "possession" football - possible relegation. It's no longer a choice, we have to stop that.

Pretty much no Championship team should have anything less than the playoffs as a target.
“Top half”? Give me strength

Top half would be a bonus as things stand, but realistically this prediction may alter for the good or bad come late August depending on who left and any new signings. If signing aspirations are players st Grimsby on loan from another lower league club like Jay Matete, top half will definitely be a bonus.

With the state the club seems to be in, staying up will be the aim, then next year when there’s about 10 players out of contract we can have another go at it, Long depressing season with shitty loans and free transfers, pretty much the same as this year,

I honestly thought he would be gone by Christmas but from yesterday it’s seems we’re a better counter attacking team than a possession based team.. if he sticks too the counter attack I think it would of save his bacon for all of next season.. how far can he take us?? top half?? play offs at a push?? either way.. will it be good for another season after the next one.. am not so sure

Playoffs. Fully fit squad with the right additions and we will be up there- as we would have been this season had Campbell, Fletcher, Allen , Collins, Fox, Clucas been FULLY fit throughout the season.

Avoid relegation if we don’t change managers.
Avoid relegation if we replace MON with another experimental appointment.
Mid table consolidation if we appoint a leader experienced at this level.

Realistic aim is roughly the same with a more streamlined, hungry squad, having shifted a lot of the big earners on and out.
Maybe the odd tilt at a play off spot if we get a good run.
Most importantly we need to get Campbell and Doughty back properly in readiness for the second half of the season. Then go again in 22/23.

I like your optimism. 1) any idea how we fund the “right additions”. 2) of the people you mention as being fully fit, you are placing an awful lot of faith in Campbell continuing a scoring streak that Tachyon has already pointed out is unlikely ( not impossible)- we don’t even know if Campbell will ever be fit? 3)Allen and Clucas have been with us during our time in the Championship and between them have possibly dominated 20 games out of 3 seasons- they are not suddenly going to become a creative , dominant force in the Championship. 4) Fletcher needs us to create a lot more chances as he’s not particularly clinical in front of goal, he’ll be another year older and certainly no more robust than this year. Doughty may be the ace in the pack, I don’t know, but realistically mid table, no relegation scrapes, and probably continuing development of the younger players with some genuine attacking performances is a more likely scenario.

We have to aim for the play offs or what’s the point else? Potentially to set solid foundations for the following season and years to come. As a club, when was the last time the youth set up was being used as much as it is now?
