Don't forget Blues will be entitled to some of that aswell! They are only entitled to 25% if anything over £3.5m which hasn’t happened so they’ll get nowt Quality. Just read that. Having Blues fans in the Mrs's family they've been banging on about this sell on clause for years. That's funny if they get zip all!!

How many times is it going to be 'poor old Stoke, what could we do' before someone asks why is it always 'poor old Stoke what could we do' before someone pays the price for it always being 'poor old Stoke what could we do?

Nowt to do with us - it is Palace who have run the deal so close to the deadline. You would think we have refuted a few insulting offers though I doubt we have had an offer for him since summer 2019 - until Palace picked up the phone this week. Liverpool might have considered him but I bet they never got as far as dialing SOT.

How many times is it going to be 'poor old Stoke, what could we do' before someone asks why is it always 'poor old Stoke what could we do' before someone pays the price for it always being 'poor old Stoke what could we do? To be fair though, we are clearing up a pretty unprecedented pile of pretty smelly shit that's accumulated. And, in getting rid of it, we're going to have to get our hands a bit mucky. There was never going to be an easy way to get rid of a load of players that we paid tens of millions for, and are being paid as if they're top players, who are worth tens of pence. Through our own terrible mistakes admittedly, this hand we've been playing since the Rowett summer of overspending put the tin lid on Hughes' awful last couple of years, and further compounded by Jones' car crash was always going to be pretty shitty with no good ways out

It is almost unbelievable that amongst all the other nonsense that's gone on, the one thing you would have put your mortgage on back then - us getting a profit on Butland - actually turns to shit in the end.
It is almost like we're cursed, despite all the rank incompetence at every level
Like going on Antiques Roadshow with a family heirloom you've been told is priceless then discovering that it's humiliatingly worth 65p.

This is what happens when you are ran by people that put their hearts before their heads, and which is underpinned by a total lack of football knowledge and fabric around them - put on top of a barrage of poor and misguided managerial appointments. The good, but frustrating part now is that we have a manager who has clearly and actively driven change at the top of club recruitment. Good for obvious reasons but frustrating because we seemingly have not learned any lessons and are yet again at the mercy of a manager and his brains. If he leaves we lose that knowledge and drive overnight.

Didn't we buy him so long ago that he's all amortised or whatever, so the £1 mil would count as profit? Fees+wages would then be maybe £2.5 mil swing in our FFP?

This 1000%. It's endemic and it's criminal these people overseeing said deals keep their jobs.

Liking your analogy there. Waking up from a coma you'd also wonder why everyone's wandering around wearing masks & paranoidly washing their hands every 5mins too! Strange old world we live in!

Yeah, I wouldn't castigate them for not selling in the Prem - or even in the Rowett summer (although, in hindsight, that was clearly the time to press the button) Not selling last summer at a more reasonable price was obviously the glaring mistake www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/04/23/exclusive-stoke-city-demand-30m-jack-butland/But, equally, it's also true absolutely nobody could have predicted his form, and value, would plummet to these depths

I actually feel for the bloke. Despite all the massive fuck ups and all the points he's cost us.
Hes clearly a genuinely good guy. And for whatever reason, he's gone through a seriously tough time.
I hope he gets his head together and goes onto better things.
Its worked out shit for us mind.

The club is run like a 1970's working mans club by a committee of out of touch amateurs, how the hell Teflon is still in has overpaid role is beyond belief and would not be tolerated by any other professional business in the country.
