Would you post that with your kids in front of you on social media ? Did you read what I posted ? I said that it was an uncomfortable and inappropriate image - much more importantly so has he - but your question completely misses the point. I am not from a City which has experienced the effects of conflict as he is, and I have not experienced the kind of social media and direct on-street abuse which he and his family has, and I'm not sure how I would react if I did. Yes I read it, I asked specifically asked you if you would post that with your kids on social media which you skirted around, I suspect that like many others you would have enough intelligence to not have done so, to be seen preaching hatred to kids is not a good idea whether he was or wasn't we will never really know, now consider his words on the abuse he and his family have received from the Sentinel today:
,“That message (to his brother) was from a kid and you think ‘wow’. Hate shouldn't be in you at that age. Where does a kid learn that?
"Social media and society is a dangerous place. It's just madness. That kind of hate shouldn't be in you at that age. He looks about 13 or 14. It's unacceptable.”
McClean has called on the authorities and social media platforms to take anti-Irish abuse as seriously as any other discrimination.
He feels the tide is slowly turning after receiving support from club-mates, international team-mates, the FAI, the English PFA and Stoke.
And he has spoken of his regret, too, at posting a photograph of himself last March wearing a balaclava with his two eldest children and the caption: "Today's history lesson." He was fined by Stoke for the post, which seemed to be an allusion to the IRA's armed struggle.
He said: "The balaclava post was ill-judged on my part. It was supposed to be funny. It was one of those you think is funny at the time and a few minutes later you don’t.
“Because you don’t think about the hurt it might cause other people. But on social media people screenshot it so when it’s out, it’s out.
“It annoys me because it almost gives justification to abuse me. People post it and say, ‘You bring it on yourself’.

Are you calling Gareth McAuley a liar ? OK, you've tempted me to find it myself. Here is the picture. He remained, head bowed, facing the stand whilst the other players turned 90 degrees towards the flag(s). He didn't turn his back on the flag(s) View AttachmentWell done however that is one frame shot, I presume his teammate who was there had a prolonged view of the incident so if it's all the same I will take his eyewitness account.

Openly supporting and failing to condemn can be seen in the eyes of many as the same thing All I want to know does he condemn the actions of the ira or not So you condemn the actions of the Paras and in your words call them "cowardly bastards" ? Brave man. Where have you seen me condemning the actions of paratroopers Yes they maybe have done things wrong whilst trying to protect the right of British citizens to remain British And the one thing that British soldiers were not in ulster was cowardly

So you condemn the actions of the Paras and in your words call them "cowardly bastards" ? Brave man. Where have you seen me condemning the actions of paratroopers Yes they maybe have done things wrong whilst trying to protect the right of British citizens to remain British And the one thing that British soldiers were not in ulster was cowardly Do you think there might just be a wee double standard here, shooting 26 people, killing 14 and you applaud the organisation (the Paras) where as James McClean has not applauded the IRA but you're asking him to condemn them. I'm confused.By the way it's not Ulster only 6 counties of it.

I joined in with you earlier calling those members of the IRA who indiscriminately bombed civilians "cowardly bastards", so far you have not done the same of the Paras involved in murder or do you still want to call it a mistake ?

There are many convictions for murder each year in Britain where premeditation was not involved.

Fourteen people died: 13 were killed outright, while the death of another man four months later was attributed to his injuries. Many of the victims were shot while fleeing from the soldiers, and some were shot while trying to help the wounded.[2] Other protesters were injured by shrapnel, rubber bullets, or batons, and two were run down by army vehicles.[3][4] All of those shot were Catholics. The march had been organised by the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (NICRA). The soldiers were from the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment ("1 Para"), the same regiment implicated in the Ballymurphy massacre several months prior.[5] Mistake or massacre. <best Geordie Big Brother voiceover> you decide...

Strange isn't it, British people who fought against a potential invasion are heroes, those who defend their country from the British doing the same thing they suffered are classed as terrorists/cowardly etc. Not only that they get upset when someone won't respect the armed forces responsible. Derry suffered more than anywhere, the fact that McClean wasn't born as someone pointed out is irrelevant. By that logic those not alive during WW2 doesn't have the place to respect those who died. Derry is still suffering as a result of British rule as is the whole country in different ways. Every time someone criticises Mclean we seem to get the same pre scripted reply, he supports cowardly murderers etc which is of course nonsense and just repeating what those before have come out with.

Well you can if you want to.
