Fuck off you cunt. little shop of horrors is ace. And I actually love the old mgm type musicals. Fred Astaire, Doris day, seven brides that sort of thing and Albert Finney’s Scrooge. Not seen Hamilton but love the golden age of hip hop To be fair to Little shop and Rocky Horror, they don't take themselves at all seriously anyway and apart from the music actually are entertaining films. Don't worry, you won't hear any mumble or drill shit in Hamilton! As you are into your rap though ,you'll appreciate it far more. The skill to write lyrics that are about nothing other than the content of the storyline (especially considering how dry the subject matter could be), to not have to fit a single line in during the entire show for the sake of it just as a space filler or rhyme maker and for all of the lyrics in all of the tracks to fit in with each other perfectly both contextually and chronologically in terms of the show and carry that off for the best part of 3 hours is utterly incredible. Having said all of that, Lin Manuel Miranda is a VERY impressive freestyler and his own rap is far more articulate than most rappers as he's not allowed to use the "N" word to fill up 2 of the 3 and half minutes of his songs so i guess he's had plenty of practice when it comes to widening the content matter of rap from just being about money, guns, blunts, themselves, women, money, racism, money. The only thing i was worried about was the fact that this is one of those musicals where nothing is "spoken" i.e. the entire story is played out in rap/song, so any fast lines could get missed by the audience and then you lose the storyline....but the diction of the cast is bloody superb, so no issues at all there. The most staggering thing however, is the skill of a man that can make you sit there absolutely gripped for 3 hours while he basically just gives you a history lesson on the fucking US Financial system. Why the fuck do i care about that?? Doesn't matter, gripped anyway.
My kids have Disney I’ll check it out

He just doesn't make any shit films in general does he? Months ago i was downloading some films to alleviate lockdown boredom and speicfically got a batch of Tom Cruise films because you'll always get an enjoyable watch.
I liked the Jack Reacher films too but haven't read the books, so didn't have to be worried about how well he portrayed the character. I actually haven't seen Rock of Ages as musicals aren't my thing...although i do think Hamilton is incredible (but i digress). Absolutely bloody LOVE Cocktail! Had a huge crush on Elizabeth Shue when i was a teen, ever since i saw Adventures in Babysitting, so that waterfall scene.... Bryan Brown steals the show and (as much as i also loved Top Gun) it's soundtrack kicks TG's arse.
Great film and to this day i still call the plastic bits at the end of my laces "Flugelbinders".
Jack Reacher is 6ft 5 inch tall so they cast Tom Cruise.... Makes me think of hips.hearstapps.com/digitalspyuk.cdnds.net/17/51/1513855308-robert-de-niro-wears-platforms-the-irishman.jpg

Jack Reacher is 6ft 5 inch tall so they cast Tom Cruise.... True but despite that did a good job In the first film yes I agree it actually was played very close to the reacher of literature. Didn’t feel the same for the second every thing from cruises portal to the feel of the entire movie. Alan Ritchson who play Hawk in Titans has the rol for the amazon tv series, he carries the stature just have to see if he pulls of the part, he is good in Titans though. On the subject of amazon really enjoyed the Jack Ryan series on there.

True I’ve read five or six reacher books and have enjoyed them all. But as an introduction one shot was a pretty good start. There’s always on book I would have loved see as a film and that’s A season in hell by Jack Higgins

To be fair the Jack Higgins books with Sean Dillon as a character were like that , even to the point where they use pretty much the same plot as in a season in hell and even say that somebody had once done this before 🤦♂️

Just watched Greenland 🤷♂️ Not raving. Also watched Wonder Woman 84 🤦♂️🤦♂️ First Wonder Woman is a superb film and a great super hero movie, that one is not good at all. IMHO you could cut 40 minutes out the film what could massively improve it

The good bits still stand up but surprised how cheesy it was. Band of Brothers is better True but I first watched in the cinema and it was a visceral experience for the first 20 minutes and it’s probably the beginning of the new wave of serious wat films after the 70’s and 80’s cheese fests

The best films I've watched recently, both on iPlayer:
Rio Bravo - I haven't seen many westerns, and Rio Bravo is the first John Wayne film I've watched in my adult life. It was excellent and understated and seemed like the kind of film some modern filmmakers should learn from.
To Catch a Thief - I figured out whodunnit but To Catch a Thief was still an enjoyable thriller, and I loved the humour. Not that I have anything against the likes of George Clooney and his peers, but Cary Grant seems to bring more of a likeable charisma to his roles.

Band of Brothers is better If you fancy a decent modern war film try 13 hours don’t let the fact it’s Michael Bay put you off it’s low budget for him, and like pain and gain well made and acted.

Mainstream stuff:
Midsommar - Trippy and disturbing horror set in Sweden
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Love letter to 60s L.A. with an entirely new fictional take on Sharon Tate
Older or harder to find:
Lola Rennt (aka Run Lola Run) breathless thriller about a woman trying to save the life of her criminal boyfriend.
Brick - A clever Noir film set in the sunshine and with schoolkids instead of the usual gangsters.

Caught it by accident. Slightly slow at first but stick with it.

Don't know if it is on iPlayer but if you like that one then El Dorado is worth a watch. Essentially exactly the same film tweaked a bit but darker with Robert Mitchum playing the drunk and James Caan the young lad.

The Dig The Green Book Both excellent films on Amazon I thought The Dig was excellent. Didn't expect to be so engaged in a film about an archeologist, but I thought the performance by Ralph Fiennes was excellent and the relationships between the characters had depth to them I thought and were nuanced. Beautifully filmed and captured a time, but was relevant to our ongoing relationship with past and history and its meaning for us. Nice recommendation.
