if this young lad is going to be as good as people say he should be in or around our first team squad, we cannot afford to loose good talented young lads only to replace them with journey men like chris brunt looking for a last pay day, offer the lad a decent deal unless its to late,

If he doesn’t want to be here what’s the point, regardless of talent. It’s good that we’re finally developing players who can kick on and make a good career. If anything it gives us a decent reputation for young lads of the future.

Stoke City could create an inventive transfer contract:
Free transfer back option at the age of 30 % selling on on not the first but third transfer. If he goes big we cash in.

He's not going to be playing anywhere for a while He could have made more money signing for Chelsea (or similar) Realistically he would have made more money staying here than signing for a small club in Portugal. However they can offer him first team football sooner (18 months or so) and a pathway to the big clubs there. It's a smart move for him

Tashen Oakley Boothe left spurs to give himself a better chance of playing football, so i dont think it would be a good move for him to go to any premier league club at this stage of is young career.

There really is no point in clubs having an academy if clubs can just snap up a star talent
Development costs ...just wtf

I know where a number of years on now, but it was the same with N’goy. It all depends who’s advising the player really.

Was really hoping he would sign for us.....very sad! Me too, but if I take my Stoke tinted glasses off, he's better off elsewhere especially our record with younger/academy players.

You mean like Collins or Campbell and Tom Edwards ? It’s all changing in that regard and if he stayed he’d get his chance

If he'd have stayed i'm convinced he would have got some exposure to first team football next season. Can't argue with his choice of league though. The Bundesliga is excellent for developing young players.

Sorensen is some way off and Oakley-Boothe appears to have slipped back. Not sure our case is that strong

Not sure our case is that strong Why is so much pressure lumped on young players to succeed instantly and if not they are disregarded like this. Have a look at some of the 'Golden Generation' and what age they started playing competitive regular football. Collins has recently turned 19, Tom Edwards 21 and been in squad for bit now, Sorensen 20 and Oakley-Boothe 20.

I know where a number of years on now, but it was the same with N’goy. It all depends who’s advising the player really. Very difficult to turn down the money and a pathway. You could be injured next week and never play again so the earlier and bigger the contract the greater the safety net. Add in changing family lives , advisers/agents fees and Fomo on clubs chasing talent and it's money driven

He's obviously with his 'people' checking out options - in Portugal and elsewhere, but is def reported as enjoying his time here. His older brother Abdul not got the same promise, so just released.
Only hope behind the scenes a contract's ready waiting for him, as soon as/ if our Ch'ship status is sealed.
Also that MoN could persuade him with first team chance and developing his game - we need to do everything to keep him, hold off the big clubs until the inevitable.
