This is a pretty extensive hypothetical to be bothered by. If he was still here and if he hadn't played a certain amount, it would have been criminal but also it wouldn't have happened anyway. Think we're into impossible to know territory here. Yes and no. We can see it happening with Coates though. It's just frustrating seeing good young players not given a shot but the proven useless experienced ones still get the game time. Again, not sure we really know if Coates is as good as Sankoh at this stage. But the second point I fully agree with (even though overall I think O'Neill deserves more credit than criticism for playing young players) - especially about Coates. No idea why he hasn't been playing more given that the season was over weeks ago and Smith has been terrible recently.

Just like he did with Souttar, Campbell and Collins He's been slow to use them for sure. But thankfully he got there in the end. And hopefully he will use Collins properly soon. Love see Collins in his natural position but according to Campbell’s dad he’s going burnley

Sankoh could become a world star he's that good. It will take luck and the right opportunity but if he was playing for one of the big clubs in 3 years time it would come as no surprise. Coates just needs to be potentially better than Smith. And he is potentially better.

U23's season is still going strong, perhaps not want him to get injured for their play offs ?

Where's he said that? I can't imagine Burnley could afford him and he's way better than them. In the Sentinel the other night . Campbell senior comments are suggesting that Collins would be more likely to get regular first team football and gain valuable Premiership experience Very important that we make the best financial deal for the club if this happens A bigger concern for us is if he sees this as a potential route for Premiership football for Tyrese If we can keep him and he stays injury free, we will have a good chance of a play off place / even Promotion and that could encourage him to stay

They’ve played pretty much all season (when fit) There’s one thing that can’t be denied is that O’Neill has played more of our youth than any recent manager.

Forced to (due to the utter shite alternatives and injuries) or actually wanted to? The whole 'they need a loan' quote makes this point kind of mute. I still don't see this as a positive from this season, only 3 youngsters have made an impression, Campbell I'd argue we knew about long before O'Niell and was a viable option 2 years ago really. We lost Sankoh who should have been in it already. Collins isn't really a set starter especially post injury and right back, and then Souttar was already on loan previously and showed his potential - I mean who was realistically going to okay in that position? Batth? Really? Bursik has had his nose turned up at even though he's better than Gunn.

I’m pretty sure he means the young players who have made the bench will go out on loan. 3 young players, 4 if you count Bursik. So a third of the team from the academy is excellent effort. Whether that’s forced or not is besides the point, but there have been other strikers and defenders who could’ve played instead. It’s really low not to give O’Neill credit for playing youth but some agendas are that ingrained that it won’t happen.

I read Campbell's comments as advice that at this stage of his career Collins would be better choosing Burnley over other clubs he's been linked with such as Liverpool and Utd. Reading the interview with Souttar yesterday I was quite heartened by his comment that a lot of players are of a similar mind to him-they want to play in the Premier but want to do it with Stoke if they can.

He has played them a lot but it wasn't from the start of the season. Indeed Souttar looked the best CB in pre season and I was suggesting he should start which was roundly poo pooed. Collins came in at right back which is poor. He needs to be at CB.

He’ll hopefully partner Souttar, who has been poor at times though, at CB next season. They’ve developed really well and hopefully they’ll carry that on next season

'..one or more ligaments feared broken, could well be out for 6 months or even longer into 2022'. Hope it's not career-threatening as he is at the start of his but just goes to show how thin a line professional footballers tread in any game. No wonder they have the 'make money while you can as you never know when it can suddenly end' mentality.
