It's actually better all round if they have their money paid in full, and each split a portion of their wages to different charities automatically. That way, the government get the much needed tax from their wages and the money goes to the right place in the end. If they take a pay cut the government lose out on the tax and the players would give less or nothing at all to charity, everyone will be a loser. People need to stop and think with their heads here. Its not about tax though is it? When did it start being about tax?!?! Its about the survival of our beloved football clubs given they have no income for the next months and will go bust. Why is it being twisted into who pays the most tax?!?! (which is certainly not footballers as they all offshore their money to avoid paying it) It's probably more about football and footballers sick and tired of being used as a political football (no pun intended) by politicians of all persuasions. Politicians really ought to shut the fuck up about football. At the margins these ridiculously well played footballers are paying £47 in every £100 worth of income to the exchequer with their employers paying another £14 on top. To get to the £100 in the first place the employers have paid £20 over to the exchequer in VAT. It's a good earner for the exchequer but it's no different from any other business in the length and breadth of the country. Laxy disingenuous populist politicians looking for cheap and easy targets. The aspect of the survival of the footballer's employers is a completely different matter for them to consider but that's for the employees and their unions to discuss as with any other industry.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52168692Fucking state of this: 30% of their wage is £500m and they're rationale is £200m already, maybe, goes to the tax man. The bollocks that their is no way to get it into the NHS too is plainly bullshit as pretty sure if footballers came out and said 'here's £300m where do you want it?' there's be loads of avenues. That's before even considering that 100% of their wage = £1.7bn! As perspective that = about 10% of the spending on the Scottish NHS annually which services a country of c.6million people. It's ok though they've delegated responsibility to the Premier League and although they're happy they've chucked in £20m, otherwise known as an Imbula, to the NHS these cheeky fuckers have the audacity to claim the PL should be doing more! I fucking hate Liverpool but always had a respect of how they were a community club. Nowhere in 'you'll never walk alone' though does it caveat it with 'unless the Tory based government we historically despise offers to pay 80% of your wages'. Be interesting to see Klopps reaction or if there's radio silence from him for the first time in years. Un fucking believable

Words almost fail me over this whole fucking shambles. It’s all about PL revenue losses if season is not completed. PL will apparently have to repay £796m to MSM companies. As for players claiming that the NHS will suffer if they agree to a pay cut is beyond contempt. Try telling that to Sharon and Steve at the Foxhounds Inn, Otter Nurseries, Debbie at our local chippy, Neil at the pick your own farm and the other Neil at Just Williams restaurant..........all closed and laying off dozens of people. Meanwhile our scummy professional football industry mostly doesn’t give a fuck about anything other than their own little bubble.

They pay loads in tax and if that still can be paid then it makes sense to. Just like it makes sense for the billionaire owners of these clubs pay the non playing staff and not furlough them.

No they are not wrong. But why should professional footballers be such a special case? The treasury is losing billions in tax revenue due to job losses and pay cuts from ordinary folk who don’t have the luxury of a PFA type Union hell bent on maintaining the obscene wages of its members. Rooney has now waded in saying that a 30% pay cut could financially ruin some players. Well fucking join a cast of millions you dickhead. (I mean Rooney not you Bayern )

What I don’t like is billionaire football clubs owners putting their non playing staff on furlough and putting the onus on the government and in the end the taxpayer.

Yet it's not being reported anywhere outside of the local media. Unsurprising but disappointing all the same. The Coates family deserve huge praise. Huge praise.

SJW had a piece in The Mail on Sunday today in which he very much praised Stoke (and the Coates family) for the way they are looking after their staff.

That should be pinned to the message board - our owner pays double the tax of the 2nd highest in the list! In fairness to Premier League footballers as a collective, so long at they're not walloping money in image rights schemes, they must be contributing double that amount too.
