I wonder if FFP will go out of the window for now. Surely it must as there will be some horrific losses I think everything is out the window. We are literally winging it from day to day.

Why when they’ll need paying for? You saying fuck em and let them all get repossessed? Cmon mate give it some thought eh You do realise they are only asking for a wage DEFERRAL until a later date. They will get their full payment eventually. Everyone else is suffering and will struggle to pay their rents. We arent asking footballers to do anything differently from the rest of society. A lot of people are already feeling the pain. This is not about hating footballers. Clubs are getting zero revenue from gate receipts or TV contracts without playing games. At least they arent getting the sack like many people in service businesses right now But hey you keep fighting the fight on behalf of the players. I think you’ve totally missed the point and lost track of the point I was making to the original post from biglad that I quoted

Stupid question, But what do clubs do over summer? If the idea is to play the games eventually they wont be down on money for the year.

Stupid question, But what do clubs do over summer? If the idea is to play the games eventually they wont be down on money for the year. That depends upon the basis on which they play the games. If they are played behind closed doors, Football League clubs (as opposed to Premier League clubs) will lose a huge slice of their income. For most EFL clubs the gate receipts are the largest slice of their income, as opposed to Premier League clubs, where the gate receipts are only between 10% and 25% of total income.

Given the reality of where we are how can any of them not take a massive pay cut? In fact no money at all
Of course that cuts off below a certain level but fuck me

But if they're all televised then they'll get additional TV money. Not sure if I misread that though. Were they talking about just all Prem matches being televised?

If ALL league games were televised until the season finished, TV audiences for all but the top games would be quite small and the money would not be much.

I think it's just a matter of time before all non-Prem teams start following suit to this. Fair play to all those involved at Leeds.

Those selfish footballers strike again. I don't know how they sleep at night. I noticed Pep GuardIola has given £1m to the Spanish authorities to help fight this horrible pandemic and he was getting reemed on twitter as it was announced publicly Probably by the same wankers who reem players/managers for doing nothing

I would have thought that if they are under contract they would be an asset. I am sure that quite a few are set up as overseas corporations etc. They call it Financial Tax Planning . I would call it Tax evasion. Messi and Ronald were done, and easily found the funds to pay the substantial fines to avoid imprisonment. Some years ago Romney’s accountant was suing him for millions for alleged unpaid fees. Food for thought. I don’t know that much about company law but I’m sure when we’ve had discussions about this before the players are listed as assets in company accounts. I’m sure if they were self employed ie sub contractors the company couldn’t list them as their asset. It doesn’t stop the individual players forming their own offshore company and squirrelling their money away there but those are two separate issues. Yes thats right about players contracts being listed as assets although for some of ours I would suggest a presentational adjustment to Liabilities would be more correct The offshore companies thing is more to do with things like image rights which is generally only the the more famous players and the bigger clubs and players use them to save on tax and effectively pay the players more. Actual wages get taxed before they are paid to the player so there is no point in transferring wages offshore.

Why should footballers be treated any differently than anyone else? They should get 80% to the max of £2500 a month and they can take mortgage and loan holidays like us ordinaries. They need to suck it up. Shit happens.

What an odd move after they came out with big fanfare to offer free tickets to NHS workers to then renege on business agreements.

Irrelevant if they earm more than you etc. You have no idea of their outgoings etc, some players buy houses on say 5 year mortgages as a short career and may possibly still have many things to pay. Not all Birmingham players will be living in McMansions and drinking Krug for breakfast. No players would be drinking Krug for breakfast regardless who they play for, they'd get sacked
