Irrelevant if they earm more than you etc. You have no idea of their outgoings etc, some players buy houses on say 5 year mortgages as a short career and may possibly still have many things to pay. Not all Birmingham players will be living in McMansions and drinking Krug for breakfast. No players would be drinking Krug for breakfast regardless who they play for, they'd get sacked I didn't mean literally and no they wouldn't be sacked depending on when but irrelevant. Anyway after seeing the Bournemouth situation, of course they earn a lot more than Birmingham players but it's hard to believe that the players haven't helped out in a situation like this.

Gordon Taylor and the PFA doing what he always has done. Complete wanker.
Moral vacuum is exactly the correct sentiment.
Letting the government pay for the non-playing staff and letting the players continue on full salaries. Capitalism at its worst.
I would let all the clubs go bankrupt so the players all lose their jobs and million pound contracts. Then pick up the pieces and lets start over again with community owned clubs and wage limits imposed.

Below is a statement in my name the FSA has issued today
" We congratulate those in football ranging from Eddie Howe to Lionel Messi and his teammates who have taken a voluntary pay cut to help their communities at this time of crisis, and hope that other highly paid and rich owners, executives and players follow their example. This would not only improve the image of the game, but much more importantly, would provide real support for those who need it at this challenging time for everyone - football in the community in a very real sense."

There will be some general tokenism - some wage deferrals or something just to appease the masses and let everything carry on as normal.
Football has long been a bubble that is bound to eventually burst but I dont think this will be the time
Modern day footballers are a mirror image of the unequal world we live in.

I see Danny Rose and a bunch of others are saying they are happy to contribute but only by donating their wages to the NHS directly.
DO THEY NOT SEE THE POINT OF A WAGE CUT!!
The whole reason is to protects the clubs and football in general from a severe loss of income. Also the likes of Jon Walters claiming the tax money is needed more than a wage cut.
This is complete deflection from the players. They are a dumb lot really. I would love to see all the clubs go bankrupt so they get no salaries at all and we reset the whole system.
Another sickly argument they are using is that any wage cut savings go to the owners of the clubs to benefit shareholders. These clubs are actually loved by the fans even if they are owed by rich businessmen. They really dont give a shit about the club they play for or the fans. Again deflecting the argument onto the owners.
They really have no shame.

It's actually better all round if they have their money paid in full, and each split a portion of their wages to different charities automatically. That way, the government get the much needed tax from their wages and the money goes to the right place in the end. If they take a pay cut the government lose out on the tax and the players would give less or nothing at all to charity, everyone will be a loser. People need to stop and think with their heads here.

Its not about tax though is it? When did it start being about tax?!?! Its about the survival of our beloved football clubs given they have no income for the next months and will go bust. Why is it being twisted into who pays the most tax?!?! (which is certainly not footballers as they all offshore their money to avoid paying it)

Fuck the local employees - let the government bail them out. As long as the players are safe on their 80k per week contracts for not playing

I wonder what the paying public of Liverpool make of their club taking hand outs from the spawn of Thatcher?
