Just booked a week in New York for November, staying just off Times Square, flying direct ex Manchester. Any pointers or recommendations are much appreciated …. Keep the Mrs away from Maceys. Go up to the top of the rockerfeller centre, you are then looking at the empire state, rather than from it, it's opposite Saks if the external Xmas display is on, and just around the corner from Radio City, see what's on there and book tickets well in advance. So much to see and do, make a list of where you want to go to and plan a route, depends what you like You have to go here 😁 joeallenrestaurant.com/newyork-onmymind.com/cornelia-street-restaurants-new-york/

Duisburg has a decent ground mate and there is a bar/restaurant 100yds away beside a lake definitely worth a visit. 30mins from cologne on the train. Had a drink in there with someone, can't remember who it was though 😉 I was furious mate as you know I was running late because my lad and his missus slept in drunk from the night before and we had to get a later train to Duisburg can't handle their booze 😁

Anyone been to Malta? Going early March - expecting to be dragged around lots of museums and churches Lots of times, ex wife's father had a place in Marsascala, seems for most to be a love/hate thing, my bro in law hates the place. I'd hire a car for at least a few days, plenty of places to visit, Gozo (short ferry ride away) is like stepping back in time and the lagoon at Como (boat trip) is very picturesque and good for snorkelling. Quite a bit of stuff to see in Valetta. I like the St Julians area most, not a fan of the far North, always seemed windy there whenever we went.

Cologne is brilliant we love it there. Absolutely. As soon as I heard we’d won a project in Cologne I got my elbows out and barged everyone else out of the way🤣 I’ve not been for about 7 years and can’t remember the best areas and bars. I’m sure it’ll all come flooding back but any recommendations welcome👍🏻 For beer Brauerei zur Malzmühle Braustelle Brewery Päffgen Craftbeer Corner Coeln

Just booked a week in New York for November, staying just off Times Square, flying direct ex Manchester. Any pointers or recommendations are much appreciated …. The subways are a vital part of NYC life. Remember though,it's a great city to walk around. Strawberry Fields is a lovely memorial to John but it's always struck me how the buskers often sing songs Paul wrote. Also, however safe NYC is these days don't ever go in Central Park after dark. There's several good boat rides that do the circuit of NYC and they have good curators

With August fast approaching I'm making plans for my first ever trip to Ireland. My son is getting married in Londonderry, taking the car over and I've booked the week of work after the 21st. One night on the outskirts of Dublin after the ferry from Holyhead then driving North. Idea is to explore before returning to the boat sometime the following week (undecided when at the moment). Again, any recommendations for a bit of a road trip/base exploration etc.

Take a drive along the North Antrim coast from Portrush in the west, go to Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge, Giant's Causeway, Bushmills Distillery. You could visit the Titanic museum/exhibition in Belfast, and there's plenty of other places to see heading down to the mountains of Mourne. Or you could go west from Londonderry over into the Republic and explore Donegal and county Sligo. Letterkenny is a good place to be based for exploring Donegal.

Portrush worth a visit if you like a good beach and some sea air (was there for the Open Golf a couple of years ago). I've only ever spent one day in Londonderry. Really interesting place. Take a walk round the walls which are on a hill from where you can see all parts of the city. The flags tell you which are the Protestant and Catholic areas. I took a wander down to Free Derry corner where you can see all the murals. Fascinating stuff for anyone who remembers The Troubles from the news in the 70s.

I was cycling across Ireland on the day we won away at Man City with Mame Diouf's elephantine wonder goal. I took a risk and went into an unknown pub where they were showing the game, wearing a SCFC jacket. People were very friendly, I had a great time as they celebrated with me. It is a fascinating place to visit.

Anyone been to Malta? Going early March - expecting to be dragged around lots of museums and churches Hi…we went to Malta for a family holiday a few years ago. I loved it my wife really didn’t like the place. I liked it for the islands history…especially the WW2 bits but my wife says never again. The locals were friendly and the weather was great. I think it is the sort of place you like or dislike…with no in between.

There is an excellent tourist train that takes you to places that you might not normally reach. I'd like to say it's not my usual thing, but sadly if I see a tourist train I'm on it.........

Anyone been to Malta? Going early March - expecting to be dragged around lots of museums and churches It’s a love it or hate place. Loved it in the 80s, but after my last visit a few years ago it’s some where I’d never go again. Apparently now, over a quarter of the island is concrete and it’s increasing.

The European Union have been pumping quite a bit of money into the place over the last decade or so. The roads were awful when I first went there, I didn't mind, it was part of the charm, evidently the natives preferred something more practical
