Does that loan take him to the end of his contract with us? Sadly not.

Ince, Maclean and one of Allen or Clucas now please 👍 To be honest, if we could get rid of Ince and McLean I’d tolerate both Allen and Clucas. Whatever their limitations as footballers, they show a far more professional attitude than the other two any day of the week.

It'll be interesting to monitor. He started on fire at Bristol City before his injury but with that and the tragic circumstances with his young child, you have to wonder where his head is at. The usual slaters on here having a go but who knows truthfully where he is mentally at the minute. Fingers crossed he's in an ok place now. We live in a world where male mental health is a problem yet some are happy to slag him off without knowing half of what's going through his head.. Rant over

For me we have still got to move on Ince, McClean, Vokes and Etebo, but we’ve done really well so far, we must have written their values down massively in covid to help fund the sale
I’d keep Clucas and Allen for some stability

With Mikel gone we need some experience in that midfield and we at least need to see where we are by Christmas to assess further if it would be safe for one of them to go.

Yes, l'd assumed that his contract ran 'til June '22 as well, but, when you think about it, if you're paying £12 million for a player l can understand why the club would want the security of a four year deal (given the recent experience of N'Zonzi and Beggers not extending with just 12 months left on their deals).
The world's now very different, of course, it's no longer re-sale value we're worried about, but not being able to shift players on unsustainably high wages.

Excellent news. 'Next sale please' Not really. There were clearly no takers for a proper sale and he’ll be back again next summer and we’ll go through the same rigmarole again.

Apparently this is his 15th transfer!
We got him in that weird purchase to direct loan situ but he’s 28 and had his first loan move when he was 18 - that’s a shedload of moving clubs in that time.

We have this every summer with Benik. It never ceases to amaze me players become better when they haven’t played😂😂. It’s like the fact MON gave him a chance last season in friendlies and the cup game against Blackpool has just been totally forgotten. I mean I could understand in a way because the bloke was non existent in those games. He’s crap, end of story. His “proven goal scoring record” is one of the biggest footballing myths I’ve ever come across. He’s just spent a season in Turkey in a league where Diouf scored 18 and he scored 4. This sums it up perfectly.

Definitely and especially with Powell in the team. Afobe has good movement but we have no-one capable of finding him, his pace could be just what we need His movement was atrocious, he didn't run for anything. He didn't jump for anything. His application was risible and his link-up play non-existent. He hasn’t got a brain. He has to wait for a ball to bounce and other players react before he moves. Absolutely zero prediction. That’s why he’s better one v one as he doesn’t need to anticipate anything.

Maybe Rowett wants to reunite his 'promotion winning front 3 of Ince-Afobe-McClean which cost an eye watering 27m What an absolute abortion of a front 3 that is in a 4-3-3. He can now have all 3 for next to nothing. Come on Gary lad you know you want to.

But what I would say about Woods is this. During his his 3 seasons at Brentford, when he was first class as as an almost ever-present for 3 seasons in a decent Championship club, he proved his pedigree at that level.
He's a proper Championship footballer, even if his time at the Britannia didn't show it.

That was a long time ago now though. He hasn’t looked like that player at Stoke or Millwall in the past three years.
