Think his reasons for joining are totally fair enough, and I also feel like that he's probably concealing the fact that actually staying at Wolves was probably not a realistic option at all.
That said I think it does reflect a little bit poorly on him that he can look at that first season as if the fans were somehow blind to the fact that he'd had a great season. Just because everyone else was shite doesn't mean he was good - he was topscorer with 9 goals in 49 appearances ffs lol. We're all a little bit self-delusional I suppose.

Delusional. Done himself no favours there. Said nothing wrong. Gave reasons for coming, gave reasons for leaving. He can score at this level, though he may never do it with us. He cracked under the pressure of a massively underperforming team who should have destroyed the league that year but couldn’t connect with eachother. He obviously has a poor opinion of the fans also. Will be interesting to see what happens in the summer. Fletcher will be that little bit older and we have no real back up other than Vokes left for the central striker position. We may be forced to use him and try to get him scoring unless we sell others to buy a replacement. To be content as top goal scorer with a measly 6 goals shows the lack of perspective he had. The squad, including him was rotten and he never once alluded to under-performing, hence delusional.

I don’t think it was the easy option though. Easier to sit on the bench, pick up a bit less wage and play 10 minutes of PL football if you’re lucky. And even easier still to become semi retired like he probably would have done! Wonder if he'd have come for less money or the incentive based deal Fletcher and Mikel signed? If he was wanted at wolves, which he says he was, anyone with an ounce of ambition would try to play at the highest level possible. He clearly says in that video that Wolves didn't want him and forced him out of the door. He was told he wouldn't play at all and that he needed to go.

He said he could have stayed at Wolves right at the start doesn't he? Either way, he's an absolute chancer who couldn't wait to get out when it got hard. We signed crap players with zero personality and character on extortionate wages. It's no wonder we were an absolute joke on the field of play.

If we go into next season with a choice of Fletcher or Vokes then that’s another year with bugger all chance of getting out at the right end

He completely underperformed some self awareness would be nice!

He doesn't think it's a great achievement does he?
Just saying that relative to everyone else it was better than what they did?

Send him to anyone but Rowett, even Jones. Screw Rowett. Spent how much on overpriced players that he now wants to bring in for pennies on a 2 year loan.

You could say he has the confidence in him to sign him a second time. It's a shame we ended up with Ince & McLean, seemingly our fall back options having not been able to sign that Newcastle player, also the defenders he wanted

McLean was but to be fair I think overall he hasn't been a terrible signing, apart from the price he's served a purpose, he was brought in for his work ethic. Who was the Newcastle player we wanted? Ince is by far the worst signing I've had the displeasure of watching for years, really can't stand the player

We offered him the Earth supposedly, but he was still playing regularly for them. Even he wouldn't have fit how Rowett was determined to set up though.

I seem to remember Rowett being let down with defenders and midfielders so much so we had to concentrate more on defence stopoing the goals going in that season I wouldn't buy Tom Ince for a quid, sooner he goes the better

Struggle to buy that he was let down for defenders, who did he want? Recall a decrepit Curtis Davies being mentioned, who's no better than Ashley Williams. He let himself down with some appalling signings, an unwillingness to consider creativity and being a complete tactical ignoramus.

Interesting little snippet on the sentiment site I just spotted on the players that make up our squad (think this was as of 01/06/21)
MH - 4 Players @£27m GR - 6 Players @£56m NJ - 7 Players @£16m (3 were free) MoN - 8 Players @£3m (5 were free)

That initial squad still should have been very competitive in this division. It was just pathetically imbalanced and seemingly surrounded by a toxic atmosphere.

A competent manager could've achieved more with it, certainly, but what we spent that warchest on is close to unforgivable really.

He had three good seasons prior to one bad season in the Prem. I really had a lot of hope that he would be a star here.

He was probably our best player under Rowett and the only player with any creativity under him, but it went badly wrong after he was sacked.
