Pity he never showed us that version of himself eh? He looked decent in the relegation season and he looked bloody good under Jones. I never once saw him play a killer pass. I can't remember the last time he had a shot. He was a shining light in our relegation though I grant you. He's a good player who didn't want to play for us.

Both Badou and Etebo are excellent players who both are more than good enough for Stoke and most PL teams as well. We don't know what has been going on, but O'Neill doesn't seem keen to get them back either. Anyway, if we don't get close to £15M for these two in the summer it must really be a worse business than the Imbula madness!

Etebo played 90 minutes, subbed in injury time, as his team won once again and go 4th in La Liga

Badou..one can only assume he was loaned to prevent a ffp problem or he had made it clear he was only prepared to play for January move. Etebo.. hard to know what happened there but obviously him and MoN weren't on the same page, somewhere along the line.
The most obvious answer of all is the the manager concluded they were damaging to his attempts to build a team spirit.

I notice with Getafe they play Etebo as a conservative wide midfielder, playing a destructive role, a bit like playing Delap wide midfield.
Getafe are a very defensive side.

No one is going to spend on him. He needs to knuckle down here and listen to what the manager wants. If he doesn't make it here he's going nowhere

He actually looked like he had learnt loads imo. He was actually reading the game, holding position and generally look a lot better defensively.

when we look at our midfield peter etebo is way better than anything we have in it right now.i know the game is about opinions but we should never have let him go out on loan. the guy is a class player.

Anything that increases the chances of him going permanently is good news, as much as I rate him.

Both decent players, miles better than we have now, but ultimately don't want to be here.
N'Diaye helped get us relegated, then couldn't wait to jump ship.
Etebo should never have come here.
I'd not want either back, regardless of their situations.

Yes, too good for us now. Attitudes stink though. Badou was an inflated panic buy that downed tools to come here, alarm bells should have rung to potential buyers. In fairness to Etebo he was probably sold we were coming straight back up, didn’t mind the signing on fee though. Great goal At Blackburn.
We may get a return on Etebo, not much chance with Badou (29/30 I think).

what's the contract situation after June 30th? Does he have to come back to us?

I'd guess it's all more to do with the agents than the players. If you've got someone having their ears bashed about how they're too good for the Championship it's bound to affect their attitude and it's best to let them bugger off asap.

I’m not sure Etebo is way better than Allen. Joe is better in certain areas, similarly, and I can never work it out but Clucas is so effective. He assists and scores all over the shop and I believe would outscore and out assist Etebo. I don’t know how he does it but Clucas effects games in a positive way without bossing games. I’d concede that Etebo has the best technique but it’s not like he has a wide passing range or can regularly beat a man with his touch, in fact he’d often choose the wrong time to carry the ball. I think he could be argued as the best but it’s far from an open and shut case.

It’s been suspended for a year hasn’t it? FFP in Europe has been suspended but nothing decided as yet in the Championship as they are discussing salary caps according to the press

It’s not hindsight as it was said at the time if Was always the huge risk with O’Neil that he was guided to lose these two but his inexperience in a window led to poor replacements the process has a record for it and low and behold two international midfielders are replaced with Jordan Thompson and and lad that’s o tie fee played youth team football
Scholes yet again again at the root of recruitment errors does anyone’s honestly the likes of Pulis or Warnock would have accepted that and thereby sits the core of managerial recruitment

We were told by the club apologists on here that we were better off without them.

I guess this is mostly about finances and FFP. How I would have loved to have one of the two back in our team tonight!

Oh I know and we had three options 1 keep one or both to see us through . 2 sell loan both and replace them properly 3 panic loan both and replace them with vastly inferior players and bet everything on Allen not getting an injury that could see us reiegated . Of course Scholes and co selected option three and will reap the consequences
