I watched him help to get us in this mess. Seems like the kind of character that would then 'bail' given the chance. We've got enough spineless, gutless wonders.

We were told by the manager at the time though Benji, that Etebo wasn't training right and Badou was the worst player on the pitch v Cardiff, before he was sold, I mean loaned for a pittance. We were told by the club apologists on here that we were better off without them. Oh I know and we had three options 1 keep one or both to see us through . 2 sell loan both and replace them properly 3 panic loan both and replace them with vastly inferior players and bet everything on Allen not getting an injury that could see us reiegated . Of course Scholes and co selected option three and will reap the consequences '& co' It's just Scholes isn't it?

I suspect they were both in the higher earning bracket on the wage bill as well. Or shunned by other squad members??

i read where Etebo and Badou were knocking on the managers door asking to leave the club, not a problem with that but if they want to play elsewhere we should not after top up there wages when not at our club,

Should be able to get fees for these two surely?
Ndiaye has been very good at Trabzonspor who are challenging for the title.
Etebo had been solid at Getafe who are challenging for European places.

I was hoping for a better attitude from Etebo.....
As for Ndiaye, he can just fuck the hell off!!!
I can't understand that when a player doesn't want to play for a club, that the club can't automatically terminate their contract!!!
I know that there's a lot more legal mumbo-jumbo to it, but it hardly seems fair that a club should have to honour a contract when the player obviously doesn't want too!!!

They didn't win it, they finished 2nd are 5 points behind the leaders and have played all their matches, Istanbul Basaksehir have already won it, for the first time, and play a final game today (only 1 game left in the league so presume it's a kind of title winning exhibition match) Demba Ba plays for them ...

Just makes me wonder why the manager had to lie about it in the first place, saying Etebo wasn't training right and NDiaye played but was the worst player on the pitch. It was clearly horse shit at the time and made everyone look stupid.
We weren't exactly protecting giant transfer fees for both were we?
We ended up getting scabby loans for both.

It's still a higher standard than what we play at, and both easily looked our best midfielders after Clucas when they played last season

Could upset others in the dressing room making it public that our best players want to leave (especially if their own wish to leave wasn't granted) 2. Keeps the club above any single player. He's pulled them back down to ground with those statements, and probably kept others in line.

Interesting how Etebo wanted out in the summer, I hadn’t seen anything about that. I still like him and I’d welcome both back tbh if Oniell proved he is the manager to back and they were happy to play for him.
That’s better than shite loads or nominal fees.

He comment re Ndiye was based solely on the game at Cardiff where he didn't have a good game. How is that horseshit? As for Etebo in training surely it makes sense, player says he wants out and then is half arsed in training is standard isn't it?

It was widely accepted at the time. I don't want to make a big issue out of it, just wondered why we/he just couldn't be honest. Neither player wanted to be here, just say it. As I said, could understand it if we were protecting a huge transfer for both but we weren't.

I thought Ndiaye generally played really well but can't agree he was the best at Cardiff, thought he was below par. O'Neill said neither player wanted to be here months ago, thus isn't news

I forgot how we tore the league up when those two were playing, all those penetrating passes that they played and the goals they scored and assists they claimed. Etebo was the type of player who if he had ever got his head up and looked, may have become a useful player- he is actually an inferior version of Joe Allen. N’Diaye was okay but nothing special- look at all the non - Turkish teams queueing up to sign him.

But never Stoke City players.

I dont see any teams wanting to loan them next season with no crowds and declining income. We might be stuck with them, and they might be stuck with us.
If they want a future career they cant afford to rot in the reserves, so maybe they come back in the right-frame of mind.
Our central midfield is still pretty weak so they would walk into the first-team next season. We know they are mercenaries but when they realise there is no loan options, I think they will see the light and buckle down. Also Etebo can potentially play on the wing.

Unless they return with very different attitudes O'Neill won't go anywhere near them. In all honesty he'd have probably binned off players like N'Zonzi and Arnautovic really...
Only thing he's yet to prove his how he'll do in the transfer market.
