Given his comment on Twitter which disagreed with the managers statement about his fitness, I'm guessing something has gone on behind the scenes between the two of them.. it may even directly relate to the public nature of the disagreement.

It's fairly obvious that both Etebo and Badou didn't want to play for us after Jones left and bearing in mind that both of them are on the biggest money it makes sense.

Not that bothered. If he was that good we wouldn't be where we are. Didn't do a lot last season either. He is OK at driving with the ball every now and then but no end product.

In terms of negotiating our way through FFP rules, a series of loans, where the loaning club actually covers all of the players wages, could be more beneficial than selling them at a reduced fee that merely exacerbates our losses under FFP rules. Etebo is a strange one because you'd think he has everything O'Neil would want in a player but if he hasn't been displaying an honesty and work ethic in training then he's rightly not been used in my opinion. We've had bad attitudes destroying the team for too long. If you aren't prepared to work hard and bust a gut to play or be involved, then you shouldn't be involved. I support O'Neil 100% in that regardless of who that player may be. I totally understand the FFP thing. The point I was making is why have we got a complete set of Bauer, Wimmer, Imbula, Etebo and NDiaye that cost approximately 60M between them that we can't sell on to even break even to avoid crystallising losses, and still the man in charge of running the club is still in place, and in certain quarters on here, is actively being praised for managing this current process well? It's an appalling state of affairs. Edit. And stop switching screens. Get back to work you slacker... 😁 It is and etebo is certainly the odd one in it all. It is both surprising and disappointing if he has become one to fall in the "bed egg" group as he seemed nothing of the sort prior to his injury v sheff wed away.

With Etebo and Badou gone and Duffy possibly on his way, surely we're looking to bring in another midfielder?

He’s been out of the team for a full season and didn’t have a pre-season. He likely needs to get fit, but Vokes on as a sub in the last 3-4 looked to offer us something, and in the last game was very good. Diouf is woeful at right wing, so he had to compete with Gregory, Vokes and Campbell for one spot. This narrative of O’Neill doesn’t like foreigners is pathetic. He scored a winner, played well and then was barely used. You’re not going to get fit getting splinters in your arse. His use of Diouf has been massively odd. Massively odd??!! A player who hasn’t kicked a ball in anger in ages gets limited game time. And that’s massively odd?? The only thing that’s massively odd as far as I can see is that you and one or two other posters seem intent on finding issue with how MON is going about his job. Stoke win 5-2 away in a 6 pointer. But within 24 hours the manager is being labelled as massively odd. Only on the Oatcake.

Maybe that's where the issue, the individuals are being isolated and the team players, who want to work together as a unit are being preferred because that's what the manager believes is best.

We are paying a Chief Exec the best part of £1 Million a year and also have a dedicated person to look after player recruitment, contracts etc probably paid not much less. It’s well documented that the price tag in a January window is usually much higher than in the summer due to clubs needing to strengthen. We also had reports earlier in the season of at least 1 premier league manager eulogising over Etebo. How the heck then are we letting two of our most sellable assets go on loan without getting a decent transfer fee for them? Add to that the fact we are letting one of our prize young stars get to the end of his contract so we will effectively lost him for the square root of diddly squat, amd it demonstrates a complete and utter incompetence in our backroom senior staff. This is not the first time our player contracts have shafted us too.
Where is the accountability?

To the wider world they are just 2 highly tenumeratwd players featuring only sporadically in a Stoke City team looking like it was heading for Division 3 two short weeks ago.

We have clubs wanting players like Etebo and others, why aren’t we negotiating and playing hard ball to get them to pay good money. Our player negotiations with other clubs are shambolic.

Can't grumble at this tbh.
Arguably our best player but:
1. Not hard to shine in our shower of shit squad.
2. Wages off books.
3. MON's seemingly started to turn things around without him or Badou.
4. In our situation, we need EVERYONE pulling in the same direction.

It's widely documented that both he and Badou were lazy as fuck in training? Any chance you could provide some links to these widely documented incidents? Many thanks There’s a few about Paul, sentinel and a few outlets on Twitter. Also the manager said Etebo has trained ok but nothing more than ok. So because the manager had said that Etebo had trained ok, that then means, that Badou is lazy as fuck in training? I haven't seen any (never mind widely documented) reports that Badou has been lazy as fuck in training, I suspect because these reports don't exist. It's all pretty much academic now because they're gone but let's not start rewriting history.

Maybe there’s an insight in your post. Unlike us MON sees him virtually every day. Training. Matches. Around the place. Who knows. Maybe he’s trying some new radical managerial approach which includes spending time with and perhaps talking to and listening to players. Then basing his team selections on his observations.

Maybe he's great off it as well, maybe the manager doesn't see it. Either way what I saw the other day was a great team performance and that's the first time I've seen it for a long time.

It’s widely documented that him and Badou were lazy as fuck in training, clearly not wanting to get injured jeopardising then a move in January transfer window. I agree both very good footballers to have at championship level and can defo do a job in the premiership, but why do they deserve to tread water all week and expect a shirt at the weekend. Bad attitudes and players just wanting to pick up a decent wage are not what we want, we want fighters who are willing and proud to wear the red & white of Stoke City FC. Absolutely none of that was evident where it actually matters. And where is that? Only on match day? As a coach (in a different sport, mind) I can absolutely tell you that it matters just as much in training. How would you feel if some lazy ass (near enough your equal) did fuck all training and you worked your ass off only to have him picked week after week. Changes the entire dynamic of a team and not for the better. Sure they may help pick up the odd point here or there but overall hurt your team. I have no argument they are likely more gifted than many in the squad but that is sadly not all that matters.
