Because the contract he signed with us commits us to paying his wages for the life of his contract. That means if he goes out on loan we have to pay the balance of his wages above whatever the loan club pays. If we didn't want to do this then we shouldn't have signed him on that contract - or - we should have made sure that he was a player good enough to be able to command high wages should he ever go out on loan. We have no one to blame but ourselves I'm afraid. First for signing far too many players who we over valued, and then put them on contracts which were longer and higher than they were worth. Second in allowing ourselves to get relegated and reducing our income by £100 million ish a year. Who else should we blame? Of course the club have to shoulder some of the blame. But it's a bit much to absolve the tossers of some it. How do you know for example that a player isn't worth what we paid. Players at many clubs have mysteriously lost form in order to force through transfers before now. That doesn't actually make them any better or worse or of less value. If the likes of the bomb squad desperately want to play elsewhere then take a pay cut to do it. I'm sure Stoke would forego a transfer fee if they were willing to tear up their contracts. If it was up to me, not withstanding the effect of FFP I'd stop them playing until they left the club. Yes I agree with all of that. What I don't agree with is players, their agents and other clubs taking the piss and us being daft enough to foot the bill.

Didnt we sign Bauer, Ndiaye and Etebo whilst we didnt actually have a manager at the club? Coincidence that all 3 have turned out to be mercenaries on ridiculous contracts! Who shoulders that blame??? Cartwright maybe ?

According to triple a sports management details (the same agency as butland tymon etc) Etebo loan fee is 608 thousand poundsWhat a bizarre way to write a number. I like it.

It’s a good move for him.
And the financials seem ok for us too.
Love how quickly it’s turned to him being shite all of a sudden😂

Clearly a man who makes plenty of time for himself, who sits back and enjoys life, takes time to smells the roses. I too approve......

Like I was really unimpressed with him at the World Cup and think it was only in the second half of his first season with us he was becoming a good Champo player. But reading these pages he was fucking brilliant and now he’s a down and out. Just makes me smile how driven by the heart and not the head it is

It makes you wonder why he agreed to sign here in the first place if he doesn't want to play championship football. He'll be out on loans until his contract runs out here. I'm sure I read he and Badou have the same agent. They will be earning all sorts of cash, tax free over there I'm guessing. Why would 2 quality players choose that league ,they must of had other offers.Etebo was seen as a top young player in last world cup, they came to Stoke for the unbelievable 5 year contracts worth thousands a week, now that's guaranteed its off to Turkey to earn the tax free payoffs.Obviously this is slanderous on my part but I'd bet a month's wage in not wrong
