The game has simply passed him by on the 3 occasions he has actually managed to get on to the pitch.
I'm not hopeful.

There is alot of Daniel Sturridge in him, ie thinks he is injured, all in his head. My opinion thats all.

Got a bit of Michael Owen about him, if he has a little niggle he 100% won’t put himself up for the game.

Powell was easily the best opposition player we faced all season last year. O'Neill will find a place for him I'm a massive Powell fan but I don't see how he fits in a 433.

Was looking forward to watching Powell. He might be a decent player but he's no use whatsoever if he cant stay fit. Turning out to be a shocking decision. Fancy signing a guy for a pivotal role when your back up 2 players for the same position are both wide men. We're stuck with a sick note now on decent money for 4 years weren't the summer signings supposed to be short contracts ? I'm not sure but it would be nice to think so. In hindsight instead of signing a sick note and chasing Gayle all summer we should have signed vydra, could have starred & covered in two positions, if only someone had suggested it... 😁

If only someone had suggested signing McKenna instead of spending £9m on vokes too, hindsight is a wonderful thing 😁

Who plays in that system today Grapey, assuming Clucas and Etebo are out? Allen, Ndiaye and Woods?

Powell's injuries have been a bit of a piss take..... I dare say, that by the end of January (if not earlier), Shawcross will have played more games than him!!!

He may have the technical ability but I don't think he's got the stomach for the physical side of the game. QPR did a job on him and every team will follow suit - a couple if early softeners and he's out of the game. We could really do with his creativity but if he's not up for it there's no point having him on the pitch.

Hmm. Interesting! Will be fascinating to see what formation we play and where he fits if that's the case.

Could he really play in a standard MON midfield 3 alongside Woods and Allen?
Or would it be more of a 4-2-3-1? (I don't think he's got any real history of playing with a No.10-type?)
Would maybe indicate that we perhaps are willing to move away from Badou with one eye on January unless he's willing to leave Woods out after a pretty promising outing?
*and all this is assuming Etebo is still out.

He was one of our better players that day or possibly our only decent player on a day when nobody else turned up. In his two games after coming back he also showed a desire to get involved, even if he was, understandably, rusty after a long period not playing. He was signed by Nathan Jones, but I don't think he gave much thought as to why he signed him. He might have been the ideal number ten at the tip of the midfield, but he never played him there. Powell did score a naughty goal vs Leicester in pre season which seemed to signal an important part for Nick but it never happened.

Clearly short on fitness and went out of the match at times, but he did put in some work and showed touches of class.

How can you ‘build a team around him’ given his injury record ?
Luxury player at best and today showed that he is at best just that
I’d get rid asap

Complete waste of a squad space.
Him & Ince are first in the firing line when January arrives I think.

Didn't do anything wrong so no reason not to give him another chance - but the jury is still out for me.
