Duffy ran the show second half. Oh yes.... them free kicks at the end weβre quality..... erm no Iβm taking the piss. He was exactly what I thought he would be.... over the hill player who has come to top up the pension pot. Offers fuck all like my great grandad at left back I'd have him in over Allen, he actually knew how to use the ball, yes the free kicks were shocking but as an attacking player he offers much more, saying that I'd have either of the actual attacking mids we have over Allen.

Why did we sign this hologram? He has a track record of this. Absolute waste of space. If this so-called footballer canβt play football then we have a frustrated contract. Get rid.

Why did we think a player known to be as brittle as a glass statue of Michael Owen was capable of giving us 'massive intensity'?

Same article says the Etebo injury will keep him out for 'a bit of time' doesn't sound good to me.

Is this the article that also quotes Nath saying Tommy Smith is " finding rhythem " ? Everyone & his dog knew Powell was a crock now it seems Nath is suprised & angry about it? Shame though as we are desperate for any type of player who might actualy play an effective forward pass. I fully expect Duffy to start against the Baggies, pass the ball sideways & backwards for the duration then be replaced by Ince against Barnsley.

Taking a gamble/risk on Powell might have been fair enough if he wasnβt already gambling on turning McClean into a LB, and on Ndiaye coming back.

Why is everybody rushing to believe that Powell is injured?
There's a long list of players that Jones has brought to the club who are playing no part in the first team.
Are they all injured as well?

NJ told us he's injured, again.

I really am not a Nathan Jones fan but I understand his and the clubs decision to sign Powell. I know it's never been about his ability but how often he can stay fit but he has looked good when fit and we have cover from Ince in a similar position. While I know the wages will probably be quite high but he was a free. The issue as predictable as some will highlight is he's been injured and Ince's form hasn't been good. Jones is an idiot but I don't think I can use this as an example to kick him.
I do feel we have plenty of cover in this area too, we have Allen who can play there admittedly doing it in a different way. I would have preferred us to keep Verlinden and not bothered with Duffy but we really do have cover for this.

Hi, Wigan Season Ticket Holder here (in peace, btw ππ) You were pre-warned about Powell by many Wigan fans at the start of the season. The lad has a chronic hamstring condition (one is 20% shorter than the other),and needs to be looked after & properly man managed. Paul Cook did a brilliant job making sure he got as much out of him as he possibly could, without detrimentally damaging Powell's long term future. Nathan Jones needs to start adopting the same "softly softly" approach as Cook did. Yes, it is frustrating, especially knowing you have a Premier League Quality player in there, but that's the only way you're going to get anything out of him.

Chance would be a fine thing. Since being kicked off the pitch against QPR, he's really not been available.

Powell has averaged 35 starts in his last 2 seasons at Wigan. Now at Stoke we cant get him out of the treatment room let alone on the pitch. Maybe instead of abusing the player, who everyone knew was injury prone but the signing was unanimously lauded, perhaps we should question another aspect of Jones and his 'wonderful' management team that isn't as good as he wants us to believe. It's a bit of a mystery in a few short months he can go from starting 30 odd games to being an invisible man.

Was looking forward to watching Powell. He might be a decent player but he's no use whatsoever if he cant stay fit.
Turning out to be a shocking decision. Fancy signing a guy for a pivotal role when your back up 2 players for the same position are both wide men.
We're stuck with a sick note now on decent money for 4 years

Powell was easily the best opposition player we faced all season last year.
O'Neill will find a place for him
