I've noticed now that for the past two years Labour have been demanding a general election and now they are to be granted their wish they don't want one.

Even if that guarantee was forthcoming, you've got to think that may be Cummings has misjudged his strategy, if Corbyn says no to an election now under any circumstances. Surely that would give Jez the upper hand, as Johnson would be left in no man's land, wouldn't it? Parliament will have instructed him to ask for an extension and he can't boot out the Tory rebels who have voted against the government because he won't have an election to replace them with. Maybe I'm missing something. The guarantee has just come from No. 10 Paul, so I think you're right, they're pretty desperate for Corbyn to ratify an election should it come to it. Still not sure how an opposition refusing an election would look but it is an area of power the fixed term act has given to opposition leaders and not even Cummings can intervene in that! The FTPA act wasn't conceived with the current scenario playing out. It is extraordinary that an opposition leader wouldn’t pounce on the opportunity where the governing party does not command a majority in the house. But, then again, we are living in extraordinary times. I don’t think Parliament has seen anything like it since The People’s Budget back in 1909.

Bring on the election!!!!
Whilst the wolves have been baying... the knives have been sharpening...
I have a feeling that labour vote will be destroyed... rumblings are that the Brexit Party will not target Conservative majorities, especially those areas that voted leave... and the Brexit question will swell their support against labour in the leave constituents.
This is falling into Boris‘ hands nicely.

They've now switched to majority Tory?
Always thought of them to be a party for the privileged, completely out of tune with everything that the city of Stoke-on-Trent is built on and stands for.
Labour really has made a mess of things it seems.

By the time the election is called, whenever that might be, so long as Johnson and not Farage is the recognised champion of Brexit then Johnson will have manoeuvred himself and his party into a winning position. This week might not go his way in Parliament but he's on the right track in party politics for now. If there's any coup going on it's for control of the centre-right.

I've been praying for a general election so Corbyn can get his ass kicked and resign.
Then we might just get our Labour Party back from the racist , Trotsky and provide a decent opposition to a Tory government.
I hope and prey for the sake of our country that this comes to pass.
NO ONE is going to do a deal with us until we restore some sort of normality to our own parliament. It's like a who's who of wanna be boy band members in there at the moment. So many voices all spouting the same dreary shit. Not one of them apart from Boris showing the slightest interest in getting us out of Europe as we voted for. EVERY effort they can make is to betray the people of this country and block Brexit. Well You Tories, Lib Dems and True Labour people I say let's make them pay for their betrayal. It's time they were reminded just who they work for and put their personal opinions to one side and did the job they were elected to do.
