I see a few of you have seen Linkin Park this month and reckon they'll sell like hotcakes and cause more Ticketmaster chaos! Touring with Sleep Token and Bad Omens, both of them with nutty fanbases. I tried to get Arizona tickets for Sleep Token and the resale was $300 each. I enjoyed Linkin Park that much on Tuesday in London that I’m contemplating going to watch them in Paris. I saw Bad Omens support Bring Me The Horizon back in January and thought they were brilliant

I managed to get Sleep Token for Brum in late November and highly anticipating this one, discovered them last year having just assumed they were a cheap Slipknot copy ( serves me right for judging on visuals) and can't wait for that one

Iron Maiden tickets on sale this week for what looks like their last big run next summer, mix of arena shows plus one I've been predicting for years , they're finally doing a big open air one at West Ham. Only able to do a couple of shows due to a family wedding (damn them, I've seen Bruce Dickinson and co more times in last 10 years than that particular relation!) but got presale tickets yesterday for Manc Co-op and West Ham. Ticketmaster again a shitshow as demand was heavy and many of the good tix were bundled up with overpriced hotel deals ,I managed just the tickets but a mate got stung for £270 each for 2 shows which is £109 gig price plus the rest for a hotel room. To be honest, when the big bands I love that still tour (Maiden being one of the last) stop doing so it'll be a relief of sorts with the way the ticketing and costs are shooting up. I see a few of you have seen Linkin Park this month and reckon they'll sell like hotcakes and cause more Ticketmaster chaos! Got tickets for the London Stadium show too.👍 Tried for Tickets for Manchester but as they were 'Mastercard preferred' seats, having Visa credit and debit cards wasn't able to pay for the tickets we wanted. Really looking forward to it. I tried to get three standing tickets for the Manchester show but, due to the 'Mastercard Preferred' payment method I couldn't complete the purchase. Surely the wording is wrong as 'preferred' should still give the option of using other cards? Unless we can drop lucky on any resales this will be the first Maiden tour since 1983 the three of us will miss thanks to the wonderful world of TM.

I went to the Headsticks 'Revolution' show yesterday at the Eleven Club. Six great acts plus an entertaining compere for only £22 (no TicketMaster involvement here). The bill was a healthy mix of punk, folk and acoustic acts, (which sounds like it shouldn't work but it definitely did), including the superb Carol Hodge and her band. I'd never seen Headsticks before and they were great. Also saw Syteria at the Rigger last Saturday, another great live act. There's lots of talent at the smaller venues right now.

Keep an eye cos not beyond the realms they'll add an extra Brum show . Selling like and cos everyone is assuming this is end of road. That said they will almost certainly add some extra UK in at the very end but to say they'll be hard to buy is an understatement Not sure if you've ever gone the IM Fan Club route , I've been in that forever and for £25 a year it's always the first presale - even if it was damn hard work which I said in original thread. Wife takes the piss but I've been in fan club 40+ years . Worth joining if you're not cos of they add extra on this run you'll get a presale code

Springsteen back next year for those that like him. Doing couple of shows at Manchester Co-op plus an Anfield one.. worth a sign up for a loyalty card on the Co-op website as they have a presale

Godspeed You! Black Emperor at the Ritz tonight. Sensational and exhilarating and utterly draining. Finished the set with slow riot in it's entirety for the second time in as many years in Manchester, seemed an odd choice cos surely mostly the same people in attendance but tbf was an absolutely insane version of BBF3 so all forgiven.
The The in Wolverhampton on Friday were great aswell, loads of stokies in attendance for that. Wolvo is an interesting night out eh, gotta keep your wits about you there for sure.

Mate visiting and staying at mine for the Anthrax show at Wolves in Nov and we're drinking and taking train which logistically is easy but last time I did that got caught up in a pitched battle between eastern european gangs by bridge over to station so always a touch apprehensive. If go on own, I park by brewery on Tettenhall road and means don't have to go far in the centre

In town had three groups of lads pick up on our accents and give us a bit of stick, the kind of stick you can just about laugh off if ya handle it correctly but not exactly good natured banter like. "Yer frum stoak aintcha? Yer best not be vale ah fookin ate vayle" cracked me up though.

St. Lawrence's in Biddulph to see old favourites of mine, Chis While and Julie Matthews. I know there's not much love on here for the folky genre but these pair are just superb live. I was trying to think how long I've been going to see them and it must be over 20 years.
I must admit that the church venue is growing on me too.. Very atmospheric and surprisingly comfortable.
Just trying to work out now if I should get off my arse and go and see Robert Vincent at The Artisan Tap tonight

Last night I went to Rock City in Nottingham (love the venue) to see Rock Cello Band Apocalyptica with The Raven Age as support.
I have followed Apocalyptica for a few years who add a different mix to Rock/Metal, releasing their own material but also love to cover Metallica tracks. This tour was supporting their latest album Plays Metallica vol 2.
Too night and amazing to see live, definitely worth checking out.
Gig 2 tonight in Birmingham seeing Arch Enemy (co headline with In Flames) at the o2 academy 🤘🏻

I took my girlfriend to see Fairground Attraction around the corner in the Royal Concert Hall. Both acts at the opposite end of the spectrum but sharing the same DNA- interesting. Fairground Attraction I didn’t know a lot about (my gf wanted to see them), their sound is hard to categorise, roots rock-rockabilly-folk. Nonetheless, the best way to discover new music is to see it live and they were absolutely brilliant, and vocalist Eddi Reader was the star of the show with a wonderful voice for 65 years old and a lovely engaging personality. I was drawn towards the guy who was playing the xylophone it reminded me of the theme tune to the shipping forecast on Radio 4 🤣. The standard of the rest of the band was outstanding, further proving to me that songwriting always out trumps outright musical proficiency. During the first song a loud whistling/screaming feed back shot out of the bands speakers causing them all to jump and stop- never seen that before! The final word is for Nottingham City Centre itself, whatever you are and however you’re dressed there’s always a pub or venue for you, brilliant.

It’s probably a case of me driving passed you at some point as I struggled to find the car park lol, so drove passed the long queue and it subsided by the time I got in around 6:50. I fully agree re the pubs and bars there as it seemed buzzing and my next trip may involve an overnight stay to appreciate it. Glad you had a top night at Fairground Attraction, Rock City are advertising Alien Ant Farm, so I’m thinking of going for nostalgia 😊

No gigs for a month for me! Then 3 in under a week.
hubris. (post-rock from Switzerland) were brilliant in Liverpool. Sadly only about 20 in attendance, yet I wouldn't be surprised if it was the better gig than Godspeed You! Black Emperor down the road in Manchester. Of Light was so incredible, that when it ended, there was stunned silence then a gasp from the audience! Not something I've experienced before. AV Sunset and L.O.E were quality post-rock/post-metal support acts too. I'm excitedly awaiting L.O.E's next album after hearing one of the new songs live.
Battle Beast (power metal from Finland) were excellent as always, though I wasn't massively feeling this gig for some reason. It's good to see them playing bigger and bigger venues each time.
Alice Gold is making a comeback 13 years after her psych-rock debut album (I first saw her at Bluedot, the first Jodrell Bank live event). One of my favourite singers, I'd missed hearing her fantastic range of vocals live. She's a brilliant performer even with just her electric guitar for company (she broke her acoustic the night before).
Pearl Charles and Fugees (if they don't cancel again) coming up.

Saw them in Manchester last Monday. It was a decent gig, without being spectacular. There were a few highlights; the keyboard player did a superb job on 'Uncertain Smile'.

Gig 2 tonight in Birmingham seeing Arch Enemy (co headline with In Flames) at the o2 academy 🤘🏻 Fucking awesome mate, hope it rocked 🤘 Thanks mate.. brilliant gig Arch Enemy (Alissa) were immense. In Flames were decent and got the crowd into a frenzy., Only downside is the venue O2 academy was over capacity downstairs and the pillars don’t help either, but top show. As a bonus today I went to The Station in Cannock to check out Rhiannon Hill who is the singer for Kira Mac (comes from Bradwell). It was my favourite gig of the weekend solo acoustic with mixture of covers and original songs. Took my 10 year daughter (who is a massive fan) plus my 14 year old lad. An amazing talent & even better knowing she is local 🫶🏼

Bit disappointed about In Flames, Clayman came out when I was discovering music and I thought they were on an upswing again after releasing some albums I really didn't appreciate. Dark Tranquillity have been far more consistent for me and their show was fantastic fun last month. Less variety than In Flames I suppose and again, my teenage memories of their earlier stuff just overpower everything and mean I don't seem to appreciate their new things on the same level.

Saw Steve Hackett at Symphony Hall Brum Monday night, beautiful venue, great acoustics as ever and Steve with his usual fantastic band. 2 sets, an hour of newer material to start plus the evergreen Everyday and a chunk of his early solo Shadow of the Hierophant. Then after the break for this tour he focussed on my least favourite classic Genesis record The Lamb but it was done well ( to be fair he rolls between the albums and I've seen him do them all justice over the years) and then surprised me by throwing some big hitters in off Selling England and not playing a song that's usually a banker for him. Not a bad thing at all. Monday night gigs a pain in the arse though lol. Believe he's in Stoke next weekend so worth a watch if you're at all prog rock or Genesis inclined

Not really my thing (I like the rockier end of the prog spectrum), but you have to say they were performances out of the top draw. You wouldn’t be disappointed if you were into Gabriel era Genesis, you have to give top marks to the vocalist too, sort of hybrid Gabriel/Collins voice.

First time I saw his singer Nad Sylvan thought he was excellent if quite a strange character . He doesn't ape Gabriel but he can carry off his vocal parts with aplomb and knows how to stay out the limelight when he's not singing . Also has an excellent drummer who sings , didn't utilise him last night but on previous tours the drummer has sung some Collins vocals off Trick of The Tail and Wind and Wuthering. Great music and done well

I absolutely have and saw them possibly 2008 ish at Liverpool when they did the Selling England tour in the original venues and using a load of.orogional stage props Genesis had loaned them! Ironically never seen again cos always go to Hackett and kind of one Genesis show a year does me. Also they are seriously more expensive than Hackett sometimes. Actually Hackett has played with them and I think Tony Banks may have. The biggest compliment you can give them is from Gabriel who took his kids to Albert Hall to see them to "show them what I used to do", high praise indeed .
