Saw cancer bats at download a few years ago. Saw Hugh corn well at sugarmill last year , got a couple of metal gigs in Wolves and Brum soon. Bringing my little girl to her first game vs Villa so I am looking forward to sharing that with her. Good man. Can't beat a bit of metal and punk. Hopefully your little un will witness a stoke win too. Thank you, she’s really looking forward to it. Been in touch with Anthony at club and he’s arranging for her to go on pitch pre match so well impressed by club and how they’re going extra mile to make it special, roll on a win!

Is that venue any good the Adolescents are there in June a great original US Punk band, saw Jah Wobble support Killing Joke a few years back were very good. Crazyhead in Nottingham in March, Neds Atomic Dustbin with Pop Will Eat Itself at the Ritz in Manchester in April, taking the nipper KISS again in Jul at MEN It's a tiny venue. Maybe 100 people max but it's a belting atmosphere Nice one I’ll get a ticket for that proper punk gig with the Adolescents

Took Mrs Pretzel down to Malvern on Monday to see The Classic Rock Show, a relentless barrage of classics from my youth and beyond... absolutely fab. I've seen folk describe them as a pub band who can only do covers! Let me know which pub you drink in if your bands are as good as these guys.

The Villagers at Manchester Cathedral on Friday night. Strange to see it without seating and with the usual strobes and gig lighting. I was expecting an acoustic set but it was the full whack, cracking atmosphere and venue. I'd only been in there for my daughter's end of term and Christmas carol concerts before but I gather they have a reasonable amount of concerts, etc to fund the one million pound a year it takes to fund the place.
Nice acoustic version of nothing arrived in the encore which began with a rendition of The Wonder of You with a bit of audience participation with the Whoa oh oh oh being more choral than footy crowd

I'm not very often at concerts but I managed to see Sparks playing last summer. A great show and they were really an excellent live band! I'm hoping to catch a gig with Sisters Of Mercy this year and perhaps a visit to Tons Of Rock to see Satyricon and Ulver.

Sounds great, can imagine the acoustics were something special in a building geared up for it. On that front I'm hoping to get to a Victoria Hall Organ recital {late march}. Seen the organ, even sang in front of it as a kid, never heard it blasting out... in a building designed for it. At the moment I'm not gigging, out injured, gutted I've had to step aside for Bilgepump, Kyoto Drummers, Jah Wobble and stuff in recent weeks. No use trying to groove with a hobble.

I might be tempted by the organ recital, even got a bit of the stuff on vinyl from back in the day. I caught a fantastic organ recital, completely unexpected, at Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow last summer, just wonderful.

Last one was a blues/rock band, Keylock, in the Duck & Drake in Leeds. Their first ever gig, apparently, looked & played like they'd been together years. Superb. I'd be surprised if they don't appear on Later With Jules Holland in very short order. All great musicians, all in perfect sync and no egos trying to take over. And a lead singer who looks like a young Brad Pitt & has the stage moves of Axl Rose but seems almost embarrassed by their brilliance rather than tripping on it.
Saw them Saturday 19th Jan (two days before their "official" first gig) and really hope I get to see them again soon. Guitarist Aaron Keylock's solo stuff is rather good too.
Next one is UFO at Leeds Academy, week Sunday. Their final tour.

I saw Aaron Keylock as support (for the excellent King King I think) a few years ago. Couldn't get over his put on mid-Atlantic accent. Technically he was outstanding but it was a bit mechanical at the time. I'd give this new band a go.

Technically he was outstanding but it was a bit mechanical at the time. I'd give this new band a go. Definitely worth a go, ICK. the best band I've ever seen in a pub, destined for big things I reckon. Nothing flashy about them, they just worked really well together. The lead singer has amazing stage presence but again not flashy or egotistic. Aaron doing a shoeless Sandie Shaw was entertaining. Nothing mid-Atlantic about the lead singer's accent (shudder) - it was straight up Scouse.
they did bill themselve as The Travelling Rock And Roll Circus - nowt to do with the Stones' film or the Dutch prog rock band as far as I'm aware. Presumably they'll gig as Keylock in future.

Saw them in Chesterfield last night and it was epic. Lean and mean... musically spot on. Also their stuff was never exactly glam metal. It has bits of funk and psychedelia thrown in that means it sounds like nobody else. Hasn't dated at all like other metal from that era.

I know Wastd in America, good Song. gNR are a bit of a quandary to me, saw them with front row seats at Hammersmith in 87 and was well disappointed, a triumph of hype over substance, and then saw them at Donington 88 and was equally unimpressed. I’m looking forward to Friday now from your feedback, thanks.

Went to the O2 Academy in Brum last night for the Stranglers supported by Dr Feelgood, great night, hot sweaty venue pretty much full, ok it's only half the Stranglers but they put on a cracking show, nice mix of new & old. Dr Feelgood still rocking it too, great to see the old boys still enjoying playing to a full house.
A bit older these days so sat in the balcony, plenty of action in the mosh though, can't beat it.
