Went see em in Leeds on Tuesday, bloody brilliant it was. Been waiting 2 years go see em has had tickets in April 2020 but we know what happened next. Spirtualized next Friday, conna wait Nice. Looks a good venue, the Leeds one. Upcoming gigs for me this year are the Strokes at Lytham, Toro Y Moi at the new Century Hall in Manchester, and (chk chk chk) at Band on the Wall. Will try and fit another festival later on in the year an all. Sorry, enjoy the strokes, not my cup of tea, a little to tidy sound. Enjoy though

Bit random, this, but we went Orlando for Easter and not alot of gigs on so didn't book any. We did however spend several days at Disney parks and when we went to the EPCOT park, we were walking round the big lake and there was an open air small amphitheatre. The signs by stage said DON MCLEAN and the stewards were ushering people in and it was about 630pm. I asked and said who's on, and they confirmed it was indeed McLean so I asked how much and when is he on. Answer was it's free and he is playing set 2 of 3, each one about 40mins and he's on on 5 mins! So wife and kids went off on a ride and I spent a blissful 40 minutes watching someone ove actually listened to since the age of about 4. He was a bit ramshackle but threw in Crying and the inevitable American Pie. A really nice surprise. Got back to see he'd done a version with T Fury too

Epcot is quite some place (Disney Florida) They have a ‘mock up’ there of British life, imagine a film set with pub, fish and chip shop, pearly kings + queens walking around with Dick Van Dyke-style ‘cockney’ accents, hilarious. When I was there a bandstand in the ‘park’ had a Beatles tribute band on - loved it!

Granddaddy last night at the Albert Hall in Manchester absolutely nailed it off the scale. Played the Sophtware Slump from start to finish and added another 8 songs, added an 8 piece chamber orchestra to the band to do the album's orchestration justice. One of only 4 UK dates on the tour the place was rammed with 2,000 aficienados, the couple next too me were up from Llanelli. As good as it gets

Saw Alan Partridge's Strategem show in Brum last night, does that count as a gig? Like all 30min comedy programmes that get extended to film or show length it's difficult to keep as consistently funny, but it was worth seeing. Some classic Partridge moments as always including a reference to the UK as a woman, the midlands being her stomach with "difficult to digest Stoke", one of numerous Stoke references he's made over the years!

Looking forward to it Currently watching the Arcade Fire live stream from Koko. Best live band in the world for me at the moment.

Mrs Buzzb went to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers in Nottingham last night, said they were awesome. Next up for us are The Eagles at Anfield in June, and yes I will wipe my feet on the way out.

There's very little audience interaction so you'll be safe Interested to know what you make of it. I read a review of the Brum show which gave it 3/5 and I'd probably agree with that, tbh. On a very sad note, your mention of Manc arena reminded me of the comment I made to my wife as we went through the metal detectors and bag searches just to attend a comedy gig, it was a sad state of affairs. Need to get my arse into gear and get some music gigs lined up.

Four gigs in four nights for me, with one a replacement to a cancellation and the last one unplanned. Still Corners - good stuff. Upbeat but blissful dream pop that is a fair bit 'rockier' live than recorded. Sister Cookie - the gig I was most excited about (Lost in Kiev and Maserati) was cancelled. I was in Manchester anyway and wasn't short of choices. Grandaddy, as mentioned by felonious - but I was put off by my experiences of seeing bands with orchestras not being great, and the sometimes disappointing sound in the venue. Amongst others, Ride and Metronomy were options, but I only like 3 or 4 songs by either. In the end, I went for Sister Cookie, a soul singer I hadn't heard of before. Her website says "an eclectic excursion into the roots & fruits of black music" - I'm not quite sure I'd go that far, as it didn't seem to be much new, but she has a great voice, charisma and a great band (drummer, guitarist, saxophonist, double bassist) behind her. There were only about 20 people there at Night 'n' Day, and I imagine she'll be playing to many more in future. I definitely feel like I made the right choice given all the options, and it sounds like Grandaddy would've been a good un too. Feeder - I was super excited to hear Radiation, a track Feeder hadn't played since 1998 apparently. All the new stuff sounded great too, with lots of meaty and heavy riffs. One of the best gigs I've been to since everything got cancelled. Sleeper - a bit meh (sometimes that feels like the best word). I enjoyed Sale of the Century and the cover of Blondie's Atomic. I was slightly tempted by Scooter (the happy hardcore/rave band), who were also playing in Manc last night.

I know what you mean often it's a pointless exercise adding an orchestra to a rock band but on this occasion they needed something extra to get the sound effects of the album together with the orchestration and it worked. It's a shame I wasn't aware of your cancellation my lad went down with the lurgy and couldn't make it so I had a free ticket. The only other time I've seen a band with an orchestra was Belle and Sebastian at the Birmingham Symphony Hall backed by the 80 piece London Contempory Orchestra. The band play classical instruments and there's a fair amount of orchestration in their albums so it was a more natural fit. Using young musicians was a bonus because they were up and dancing when they weren't playing

I enjoyed it, and the orchestra sounded brilliant when it was in full swing, but I felt like the orchestra was wasted for most of it. And they didn't play Write About Love despite it being the first single and title track of the new album at the time¡
