Mostly Autumn - a great 2hr40m set in York ending with 4 Christmas songs (including one of MA's own plus Greg Lake, Chris de Burgh and The Pogues). The only downside was a sizable number who chatted all throughout the songs.I was tempted by Thunder Hammer, a local metal/rock covers band at The Sugarmill this weekend, but I'd likely be going to that on my own and it's not one I feel like going to on my own! I'm not sure who's up next. Maybe ABBA Mania if they're still around or otherwise the Classic Rock Show in Hanley, and Wytches (highly recommended) at Eleven in Stoke. Cast in Manc or Brum are tempting, then Bob Mould at The Sugarmill is a definite. I think it's getting worse. Unfortunately they're shouting to each other to be heard, I never understand why people just can't listen. Then there's the mobiles

Shed seven in Manchester last night. They smashed it and the venue was chocka. Great night. Nice one. Should of been there on Saturday 11th, hotel booked etc. Was gutted. Strange to do two Manchester dates 11 days apart. Waiting for confirmation of the rearranged gig. Bound to be a Tuesday in February !! Never tire of seeing them. Easily 10 times now. Looked belting from stuff I've seen on twitter

Well last week Blackberry Smoke cancelled until next year and yesterday Belle and Sebastian cancelled until November. The last gig I should have seen in November was The Black Pumas, rescheduled from 12 months earlier and I couldn't go because I had Covid.... I'm doomed There's a few I haven't booked either because I've suspected cancellations.....

Not too gutted as I'll be seeing them a couple of times before then. My last gig wasn't one of my choosing. I took the lad to see Yungblud at the Victoria Warehouse in October. Rammed in with a couple of thousand 18 - 25 year-olds was as good as asking to be infected, but I got away with it. The lad didn't.

All the gigs I was looking forward to have been postponed - Battle Beast, Bob Mould, Wytches. I'm guessing The Fugees in London next month will be postponed again. The ones I wasn't so bothered about but maybe wish I was going to (like Cast tonight) have gone ahead!

The ones I wasn't so bothered about but maybe wish I was going to (like Cast tonight) have gone ahead! Not only postponed, it's been cancelled. I said at the time they should've done the UK leg of the tour in early December instead of cancelling it because the US tour was selling poorly. Pearl Charles also cancelled. Never thought I'd get to see her live and probably never will. It's mental that everything I was going to is being cancelled, but those I was on the fence about haven't.

Just looking at other gigs in London to replace The Fugees if I still make use of my train tickets and accommodation. Fairport Convention or Wolf Alice are available for £35. I've seen Wolf Alice enough times to not be bothered again for £35. I don't know much about Fairport Convention apart from loving Matty Groves. Or Stewart Lee the comedian doing something with music people that may or may not be interesting... www.ents24.com/london-events/kings-place/these-feral-lands/6283554

….. was supposed to see Ocean Alley in Cairns last night (my first gig since the Sleaford Mods in Brisvegas March 2020), but couldn’t go due to COVID-19 related reasons. Rife up here now since they opened the borders to NSW and Victoria

We went into the Coachmakers afterwards and all The Ruts were in there, we had right laugh talking about old gigs, future gigs and of course Malcolm. Great lads.

Stewart Lee in Cheltenham two nights ago. My first comment is how much weight the lad has put on! He needs to address this pronto. He's always been chunky but his gut is massive now...
Anyway, I love him, but his material is wearing thin around the edges on this tour. Moments of genius and hilarity but too many instances of 'stop me if you've heard this before', because I have...

Saw The Stranglers last night at the O2 Academy in Leeds (the old Town and Country Club). Absolutely packed out (about 2,300 capacity), great set, great crowd. Unfortunately I missed Ruts DC as I was still in the pub .

The Damn Truth at Foxlowe Arts in leek at 7:30 tonight. Will let you know how I get on, strange place for a bunch from Toronto to pitch up.
They're supporting King King on their tour at the moment so I think their promoter will have snuck this in.

Would be interested to hear what you think - I quite like what I've heard on the internet - they are playing the Lending Rooms in Leeds on Tuesday this coming week and I might be able get to the gig.

Got no great expectations myself but I've seen plenty of bands on the strength of 1 song and started following them around after. Got tickets for When Rivers Meet at the Foxlowe too.

They were great, easily fill a Blues Pills sized void in the scene. Not sure which is Badger, suppose it depends on the day of the week?
