New Order last Friday, hot chip were good, New Order were better I thought the middle third of the New Order set was just a bit dull to be fair...... I thought the same. Last Friday wasn't the best time I've seen New Order but it was far from the worst (I have seen them about 25 times however). That said, The Badger is talking bollocks - NO are far from embarrassing even though Barney's famously shonky vocals have become even shonkier as age catches up with him.

Yeah he was certainly creaking on a couple of songs. I thought the crowd was fairly flat, probably still getting used to being back in the fresh air at a gig again. They obviously hadn’t drank enough £6 Carlsberg……

With regards to the crowd being flat, I got the feeling a lot of them weren't massive NO fans which may have contributed to it Seen a lot of people who looked more like the Parklife crowd that would have followed the next day or people who were just glad to be at a gig regardless of who it was.

I like New Order but for no good reason have only seen them the once, Kentish Town Townn and Country Club in 1986 and they were excellent. Had an oh shit moment when I realised the Manc shows had been and gone, another time I hope

Had an oh shit moment when I realised the Manc shows had been and gone, another time I hope Watched New Order at the Ritz manchester very early 80s when they did the 30 minute sets and walked of stage. Seen a New order tribute act 3 years ago but very mediocre. I was luck enough to see Joy Division by chance in 1979 as they supported the Buzzcocks. A brilliant night so much energy and i had hoped the new order and another would be the same but chalk and cheese.

At The Deaf Institute, The C33s were my first live band since last year. Really good punk/garage band from Manchester.
They were supporting Ultrasound, the 90s prog/psychedelic/glam/whateverelse band who were awesome. Such a good band, and I wish they were better known. They've released more albums in the 2010s than they did in the 90s, so maybe I shouldn't call them a 90s band.
Then I saw Teenage Fanclub last week. As good as ever, and the set didn't seem weaker for Gerry Love leaving and the lack of his songs (with Euros Childs from Gorky's Zygotic Mynci taking over vocal duties). They even played A Catholic Education. It took a while to get into the venue (Manchester Academy) due to the COVID vaccination/test checks, and the venue was probably less than 2/3rds full (a size TFC would usually sell out). Great to be back at gigs!
Next up I think is Wolf Alice at The Sugarmill. I'm also tempted by Robyn Hitchcock at Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek.
I have a ticket for the Manics in Hanley, but think I'll miss it due to a trip away.

Blackwater Conspiracy and These Wicked Rivers at Eleven in Tunstall on Tuesday.
Just got back from Black Stone Cherry and Kris Barrass at the O2 Apollo in Manchester.
All excellent but I highly recommend These Wicked Rivers live.

Loads of people with tickets for TFC didn't actually make it to the gig due to the lorry smash into the train bridge earlier in the day, rendering vehicle and train access from the south side of Manchester impossible.

I drove up the A34 from North Staffs instead of the M6, and it only took 30ish minutes longer than usual, but I heard of a couple of people stuck via the M6 who I think eventually did make it too. I missed the first half of the support band, partly because of that and the time it took to get into the venue.

Saw some great stuff at the End of the road festival couple of weeks ago...The Comet is Coming, Arab Strap, Richard Dawson, Sleaford Mods, Stereolab, Hot Chip, Black Country, New Road, Squid, Katy J Pearson amongst many others. The Comet is Coming were insanely, stupendously good.
Got tickets for BC Camplight and Chubby and the gang at the Sugarmill, both should be belting gigs. Also booked up WH Lung and Godspeed you! Black Emperor in Manchester later in the year.
Great to be seeing live music again finally

Same night as stoke vs west brom?? Dunno if it's sold out bit it is on the same night as Stoke vs WBA. I've got a phone and an internet connection though so there's no reason that I can't watch both* *it won't be the first time I've done this either 😂

Anyone on here doing any Genesis gigs this month? Having seen Steve Hackett recently the prospect of the more recent poppier version at a silly ticket price isn't that enticing BUT having seen first night review they're playing a solid setlist. Not counting Invisible bloody Touch in that clearly.if I won a ticket I'd be happy enough , or donations welcome lol

Just wondering as I was due to go and see Fleshgod Apocalypse + Ex Deo in The Underworld, Camden, next Sunday but it's been cancelled due to the drummer having a serious injury requiring rehabilitation.
In February I'll be seeing Decapitated in Manchester for their 25th Anniversary Tour (new songs too hopefully by then). Hopefully Megadeth will be touring for their new album, same for Sevenfold as it's been a while for them now, Fleshgod has been rearranged for next October and I'd like to go see Limp Bizkit as I believe they're touring the UK too (chocolate starfish is the GOAT Nu Metal album and I won't hear otherwise).
Any shows you guys are going?

I bought Billy Eyelash tickets for my daughter at an absolutely extortionate price about two years ago and still waiting for an update. If these “artists” came out and gave some kind of updates it wouldn’t be so bad but what are they fucking about at?
