Last gig was the mighty Depeche Mode at Manchester Arena in December 2017. Magnificent I was at this gig - fooking immense. Also saw them at Slavia Prague's stadium on the same tour. This was a better gig, not because the performance was better but because Pilsner Urquell was about 2 quid a pint both in the ground and pretty much everywhere else. (I may or may not have also bought some Eastern block whizz)

But Manchester was the last and a great atmosphere too

Last gig I can remember was Thurston Moore at the Sugarmill - very disappointing, pathetic half arsed "new direction", I swore I'd not go to see another big name on the way down. However ....Bob Mould is playing the mill in January - he wouldn't disappoint would he? I was well excited when I saw he's playing at The Sugarmill. Have you seen him before? I saw him in Manc a few years ago. LOUD.

Just got ticket plus camping for Stone Dead festival, was sold out but put some production tickets on sale about 20 minutes ago and bagged one , looks a good one day rock fest a la Monsters Of Rock, got Black Star Riders, Gun, the brilliant Massive Wagons, Blaze Bayley doing a Maiden set, pretty happy with that for £65 and meeting up with some guys I go and see Maiden and Motörhead with . Hangover incoming

This Better World Festival in Hanley doesn't seem to have been well publicised given I just found about it after its first day. I saw a clip of Kira Mac rocking out with a cover of Deep Purple's Black Night and would've been up for that. There's a motown/northern soul band called The 45 Sound on at 8pm Saturday night I might pop to see: www.stokeontrentcitycentre.co.uk/better-world-festivalIt's free and there's beer and food and stuff by the looks of it.

King King with Jim Kirkpatrick as support, in Holmfirth at the Picturedrome tonight.
Not sure what to expect from the experience. Seen the band plenty of times a d booked the gig on the strength of the venue, Holmfirth's a decent place for eating and drinking. If I lived local to the area I'd be there regularly.
The date moved to coincide with the start of the season. Can't say I give a toss about missing Stoke kicking off, I'll be guaranteed a decent performance from the band at least.

We put our first post lockdown gig on last Sunday. I was a bit nervy doing so but the return to some sort of normaility was worth the effort I think. You'd think it was pretty scarey for artists returning to playing in front of audiences after so long but as our first returning headliner, Luke Jackson, shows in this video, a change is going to come... covid/broken strings or not

Never seen them sadly , I spent a few months in Canada the summer Iris and Slide hit big and have several albums. Kids had the Disney film Treasure Planet on in car the other day and remembered when it came on that GGD did a brilliant song on the soundtrack

Went one tonight, not a real gig - tribute band. Played “hit me with your pet shark” amongst others including ABBA, Joan Jett, Stereophonics and Tina Turner
Great to hear live music either way.

Kids had the Disney film Treasure Planet on in car the other day and remembered when it came on that GGD did a brilliant song on the soundtrack I think Treasure planet is a solo song by John Reznik but they have done plenty of movie songs for Twister, Batman and Robin, Transformers as well as Iris. I actually got into them on the album before as that was when they had their first hits in the USA with Name and Long Way Down, their first 3 albums are quite different almost punk rock like Green Day as they originally get signed to Metal Blade, Warner Brothers then got involved from the 4th album when they started to sound like they do now. They tour the UK pretty regularly I normally catch them in London and Birmingham with mates from stoke as I can get the last train back to London, think last time was the Institute near digbeth coach station good venue.

Went to see Steve Hackett at Birmingham Symphony Hall last night , think he was at Vic Hall recently too. Twice rescheduled and nearly forgot about it til an email from the venue reminding me on Monday. Sticks to what he knows and always has a killer band backing him so 45 mins of some decent solo songs , short break and the "Seconds Out" live double from Genesis in its entirety, excellently done. Steve's an engaging guy, plenty of banter and frankly Genesis were never them when he went , integral to them and even more so than Gabriel IMO. Not sure what's next for me, may visit Eleven on Sunday for Blaze Bayley but the lure of Sunday dinner and wine may prove too much

Not a fan myself but I was cajoled into working this show (my mate is the tour's promoter) and spent from 8am to 10pm generally being a gopher and driving round the supermarkets of Stoke to fetch bits and bobs that they wanted. Mr Hackett and his band were an affable lot and didn't cause any trouble. Highlight of the day was being dispatched to B&Q to buy some portable heaters as Mr H was complaining about being cold (despite it being about 30 degrees at all times in the bowels of The Victoria Hall 😂).

Not sure why New Order are embarrassing? Last album was one of their best. Are you one of those annoying people who also say that it's not New Order without Hooky? 7th time I've seen Hot Chip. They were good but I've seen them play so much better.
