King Kurt at Underground last Friday. Great fun Bizarrely there were loads of people there who were ridiculously tall. King Kurt! They are still going strong? Loved "Destination Zululand". I didn't know they attracted tall people. You're not in the Netherlands? No mate Newcastle Under Lyme. Honestly it was a tall convention. Band were great fun.

Honestly it was a tall convention. Band were great fun. Aha! I just couldn't resist it because Dutch men are the tallest in Europe and Dutch women are the third tallest. I can imagine that it was great fun - King Kurt was full throttle and a big party factor when I was young. Glad you enjoyed it! I will keep an eye open in case they visit my glacier.

I won't tell what gig it was ... because I hope it was the latest, not the last.

Went to see Penelope Isles on Friday, at Rough Trade Bristol. Great new band. Ended up standing next to the guitarist's and his bass playing/keyboard playing sister's, parents! And after, we chatted to the band too. Which was nice...

Pretzel's A500 Music gig a week last Sunday Pete Riley was excellent but the support, his lad's band were even better....great voice and a nice line of Liverpudlian humour

The Chats supported by Bad//Dreams. Both ace. Brilliant crowd all the way through, especially for a Tuesday night Really, really wanted to go to this ... hummed and hawed for ages over it because it clashed with the Luton game. Ultimately chose the footy but wish I hadn't now, as i got a puncture on the A500 and didn't even make it to the match. An hour earlier I was sooo close (flip of a coin) to getting the train to Manchester. Feel like I proper missed out now ...

I was amazed they were in the Ritz in the first place, thought they'd be in somewhere like the Gorilla. Properly underestimated how popular they were. Really glad I went. Best crowd I've seen for long time and I think the Ritz is probably my favourite venue in Manchester. Right size, easy to get to and easy to get a beer.

Went to see / hear The Stromatolites in The Duck and Drake in Leeds last night. Very loud in a small venue, few beers and perfect antidote to another cold wet night in West Yorkshire.
Got tickets to see The Stranglers in Leeds in November.

The incredible Murder Capital in Manchester. Whatever it is a band needs to be big, they have it in bucket fulls. Seeing them next week in Liverpool as well.

Atomic Rooster, 100 Club, Oxford Street. Hmmm interesting... what were they like? Excellent mate. Two original members but no Vincent Crane of course. I thought they’d be a kind of turbo tribute act, but they were much more than that with an authentic continuation of the Rooster sound. Had a lovely chat with the band prior to the gig too.
